Typhoon Dyno #'s

I recently tuned my typhoon on a rear wheel dyno here are the numbers:

Build Stock block
Srp .30 over
Eagles
422 cam
Stock l35's
w/ comp springs, ss stock sized valves, comp 1.6 full roller rockers, hardened pushrods, comp lifters
Stock manifolds
Cometic head gasket
Injectors 50lb
Stock turbo/57mm wheel
Stock downpipe
Srp bolts
Stock intercooler
Walbro 255 pump
Stock ECU, tuning with code59


Just wanted to get it running good before I upgrade it with with a larger turbo, injectors and intercooler system, tranny blew right when we took it out for a 1st run, it went right through first and second gear, third gear held fine, so I swapped the bad trans out with a new one I had build awhile back, it works great now

This was on 91 pump, and 16-17lbs boost, the most torque it made was 492 on another run, we were having problems with the stock boost control solenoid, so we just ended up disconnecting it and putting in a manual valve

Nice man!

What is your max spark advance and how much knock are you getting? Any plans to run alky?

we were running extremely low timing to keep a safe tune, we had 0 knock , the truck pulls really hard on the street through all gears im happy with it

Good number for low boost/timing. I bet you have a lot more that combo if you want to push it closer to the limits.

The early on high torque followed by the spike and drop, tells me stock turbo is running out of steam. Good numbers for a baseline and information for you to decide what you want to do if anything.

I think the small stock exhaust housing didnt help at all, was thinking of upgrading it and also removing the catalytic converter, it just seemed like there was just too much back pressure, were gonna do more tuning on the street, since we only had about 3 hours on the dyno to tune the truck

Backpressure is a huge deal and your on the right track. Of course once backpressure is resolved than you have an issue of how much can you shove in.

Just as an example when we put my downpipe on Jeremy's syclone we picked up 4 or 8 mph in the 1/4 instantly. (i forget now if it was 4 or 8). But that is HUGE improvement in HP for just a simple mod. So anything you can do on exhaust side from the housing on back will be of a benefit for you.
