Re: Typhoon #2016. Twin Turbo LS1

Mike,
Just went looking thru my ATSG Tech Manual and a PSM is my guess...it is only a guess.

The Pressure Switch Manifold tells the computer what gear the transmission is actually in.

Cool, thanks keith. The wiring harness and PSM were supposed to be replaced today, but i didn't get a call so i have no idea if that happened or not. We'll see.

If not...i'm at the shop right now - i just removed the 80e from #2320 (it enjoyed the month that it was installed) and am going to take it to the tranny shop in the morning to compare the readings we get from the AAMCO box.

If the PSM and wiring harness don't fix it, then i'll just swap trannies. I really don't want it to come to that, but i don't really have another option at this point. Now...if i put the raffle tranny in, and STILL have issues...i'll be ready to punch someone.

What are the odds that Renz is going to hurt his back lifting trannys etc., out of the sti's trunk?

Mike,
Just a reminder: Do not forget to top off all your fluids if you use the other trans and transfer case because they are dry. ( I know the transfer case has nothing in it.)

They will also fit in the trunk of a Honda Civic without issue and plenty of room for other stuff.

the ls1 ty doesn't have an a/c box in it...so i can't take said pic.

i won't do it myself. I already pulled my back lifting this tranny myself once a couple years ago...once was enough

Re: Typhoon #2016. Twin Turbo LS1

Well, changed the internal wiring harness and the PSM switch. The PSM was caked with grime/material...so that looked promising to be the culprit. But it still did the same thing

So i dropped of the raffle tranny and my new coan torque convertor...and my xfer case just in case the one in the ty has the other setup.

There is a chance it'll be done this afternoon...but they're pretty swamped right now. The guy working on it is dying to see it run, esp since i told him i'd take him out for a spin in it if he gets it to work.

So basically, the new tranny in this Ty needs a rebuild - either a seal got messesd up, or a failed rebuild, or it wasn't truly a rebuilt tranny and just a jy pull....who knows. Luckily i happen to have a built 80e not exactly in use right now. They also said that they can do the rebuild, but there is no way they'd warranty it with the power/setup thats behind it. I told them that i don't blame them, but i'd seek elsewhere for a rebuild.
