Truck has the stock motor,turbo,intercooler.
I left the stock harness in it in case I want to go back to stock harness.
A 4 link in the rear. Built transmission. But that's really it.

Has the truck been to the track yet with this combo? It would be really interesting to see what it runs compared to a stock truck with just basic mods, stock turbo/ motor/ IC.

It has not. Yet.
But hopefully soon. We don't have a 1/4mile track near us in southern Indiana. So numbers would have to be translated from 1/8th mile tack.

After fighting the stock ecu to do the things I wanted it to do, code $58 $59 and still running crappy. The stock ecu is slow to respond, USB issues, dropping connections, And weighing the options.. It's almost cheaper to go this route. It's all in one. And replaced a lot of stand alone items one would buy to do things like, launch control, 2step,electic fan control, methanol injection, flex fuel, boost control. . List is as long as my arm..

You say why, I say why the hell not.
Less is more.

So the stock ECU is more accurate than the holley EFI.
It suited my needs.

Holley EFI Dominator is the best out there right now. I run it, Every shop that does high perf LSx tuning uses it that I know of, Steve morris engines, Borrowski, Lingenfelter all use it. If your even considering swapping there is no equal. I actually have a Holley EFI harness for the 4.3 if anyone is interested. I switched to a LSx with my dominator so I no longer need it if anyone is wanting to go this route.

If I bought a stock truck I would do the same thing, throw a dominator in it and leave the factory harness there. My reasoning would be it will drive better and be easier to adjust the tune. If I were to mod the truck it would be very simple to adjust the tune or if I were to sell the truck it would be easy to throw the stock ecm back in and reuse the holley elsewhere or sell it.

I had one of the best syty tuners helping me get my sy setup with a new tune after changing a lot of parts. For whatever reason we could not get a good tune and the truck was undrivable, popping and sputtering and barely able to get to 10mph. Stock ecm said it was lean while my wb was maxed rich. Tried a lot of fixes including installing a relay for the ecm to up the voltage with no change. He was thinking there was an engine issue but I didn't believe it.
Truck sat till last year, I said screw it and sold off all the ecm junk, datamaster etc and bought the dominator with universal harness. Studied the wiring and did all the wiring myself. Used a holley turbocharged v8 base tune and changed the settings to suit my v6. Truck started on the second try (cam sensor 180 off ), and so far I have about 80 miles on the truck with only an off idle stumble to fix. Truck runs great so I know the original issue was not the engine.

Oh what I didn't mention was how easy it was to wire in my ls1 coils, cam and crank sensor, taurus fan controlled by pwm, weldon fuel pump, extra temp and pressure sensors so I did not have to buy a million gauges and so on.

Basically there is so much one can do with the holley that it makes a lot of sense to get one, I wish I would have gone that route a lot sooner. The high price scared me away for a long time. After adding up all the expenses to tune the stock ecm and paying someone to help the holley became a lot more affordable.

Lastly a lot of people believe these engines are special and need specific people to tune them, truth is the engine isn't anything special it was the ecm that you needed a knowledgeable person for. With the holley you no longer have to depend on a dwindling group of knowledgeable people. 10 years ago there were a lot of people I would turn to for stock ecm, currently I don't know of anyone and thats fine because I don't need one :D

Sorry for the long post just wanted to give my point of view on "why" ;)

I don't think it's made other systems obsolete. FAST XFI is an incredibly capable system and with the 2.0 upgrade to your old xfi box, most of the same exact features including the self tuning capabilities are there.

I'm for "whatever works" and this is the first, best, easiest single plug and play upgrade I've ever done on a SyTy. It's intuitive, works, (works like it should) I give a lot of credit to the code $58,$59 guys. It was remarkable what we accomplished with that stuff. But it was only as good as the hardware "ecu" yes you can de-solder and install injector drivers, mod it for this and that. . But there are hardware limitations to all of those as well. I like simple, I like easy, I like plug and play, I haven't found one thing I dislike about the holley EFI. Soon. I'll be installing a c5 corvette fan and controller module. And guess what, the holley EFI can control it. Just turn on a setting. Bing. Done!

Where can I get more info on this plug and play setup?

I'll get the part number this weekend. It's in the garage. But someone may chime in. It's available from holley. You only have to change the TPS & IAC plugs. And notch the map plug.

Take a word of advice and buy the Holley from Alex at Steve Morris Engines. They will help you get started with the initial setup and things go a lot faster when you have tech support available.

They also can get you all the correct harnesses you need for a sy/ty. I have been running the Holley for quite some time now, and I agree with everything that Tyson is saying.

Is there a flex fuel option? Changin two plugs isn't bad at all.
