So, today I cruised the local chevy dealer and they just got the first Trailblazer SS I've seen in these parts. Said #9 on the windshield. Anyway, here's my question
Would any of you guys trade a 80% finished Typhoon straight up for a TB SS? This deal has been made an option for me, under the following conditions:
1. I have to hold on to the TB until it's paid off
2. No modifications / funds to do so
3. I get rid of the Ty

I'm pretty sure I know what my opinion is but I thought I'd try the masses as well for some :2cents:

Ha...might be pretty cool to own one if it is the one you want...but giving up the ty...hmmm would be tough...I know I could not do #2 would definitely have to mod it!!!!!

Keep the ty, after all that time you've spent on it it'd be a shame to not enjoy it when its done.

dollar for dollar hell yeah I'd do it.

So long as I get to buy another Ty not too far in the future.

I saw a TB SS at the GM auto show in motion in Orlando and while there was zero info on it, most folks just walked rightby not even knowing what it was.
That and it was parked next to the zo6 that everyone was drooling over.

They looked at me finny when I walked right up to it, opened the door and popped the hood.
I could careless what shoddy interior work GM put in it, I wanted to see the muscle!

It's a matter of being unique in a rare vehicle or just mainstreaming with the masses after dropping some dead presidents. The local dork down the street could own one also. Would that make him a badass because he can afford a TB SS?

I believe you should keep the Ty. You've worked hard to build it. It's yours.

Not to change the subject, but any info on the e-brake brackets for the F-body rear disc conversion for the syty's. I could sure use a pair.

As to the ebrake brackets, I haven't got any hanging around, but I could probably fab a set up if you want.

Thus far, I'm with the majority in that I'm gonna keep the Ty. Partly because it's been in the family since day one... scary as it is (and the pic from haloween '94 :) ), I was only 4 years old when my dad bought it, and I can't replace that.

partly too because I've been working on it for so long  .... if only it would hurry up and finish itself

Re: Ty vs. Trailblazer SS

it's a flip up for me...

i would tend to think you could probably get a deal on one, since fuel prices are kinda stupid right now...

as of tonight there are about 150-200 (to lazy to count exact) at dealerships across the country

I'd start calling my friends for a truck and a trailer and load up the Ty.

Next year there will probably a TBSS in the garage.

NO WAY... those things will not be as rare as the TY is.
I agree. Is the TB SS 2wd or Awd? Will they be serial numbered or "limited edition"? The Typhoon isn't dropping in value by the second/as soon as you leave the dealership with it.

Tried selling one lately?

Why are SyTy'ers swapping LS1s?

Re: Ty vs. Trailblazer SS

wait, could my Ty get to the dealership ;) ?

I'm decided now to not go for it, but keep the input coming, I'm liking the opinion battle here

Re: Ty vs. Trailblazer SS

Whatever you do do NOT make this trade. I owned a Trailblazer and just sold it. It wasn't sooped up and there was no supercharger available for it but other than that, they are NOT worth a crap. Mine only had 16k miles on it and I put a $25k audio/video system in it and still enjoyed driving my Typhoon more. It was the happiest day of my life when that thing went away along with the 500 per month bill (loan & ins) as it was my last debt. Even if I had no payment on either one I would take the Typhoon any day of the week. Take it from someone who has had both at once and recently... keep the Typhoon. You'll be sorry if you make the trade, mark my words.

Have you tried selling a Trailblazer lately? I barely got $25k on a Trailblazer w/only 16k miles, Indigo blue, loaded w/$25k worth of clean custom audio/video shite... all high end and professionally installed and went out of the way to design it all to look OEM.

Bottom line is NOTHING is selling right now. Nothing.

Re: Ty vs. Trailblazer SS

My suggestion is keep the Typhoon and use the same amount of money to buy a used Audi RS6. It's used so it won't depreciate as much as a new Trailblazer (mine lost 50% of it's value in 2.5 years even though I only drove it 16k miles and it was perfect in every way with TONS of goodies) and it's twin turbo V8 and AWD. Plus the inside of these are amazing. 450hp/415ft lb stock with the ability to increase that to 520hp/532ft lb with only a chip flash. It will blow a Trailblazer out of the water for fit, finish, reliability, comfort, handling, performance, fuel economy, aftermarket support and the list goes on and on.
