This was forum member BillC's Typhoon. Truck has a little over 77k miles and
has all original paint. There are some very nice mods done, and I have almost
all the reciepts from them. There is a phantom knock issue that I have not been
able to track down and to be honest, I have not tried very hard due to lack of
knoledge of these vehicles. I bought this back in the Spring because I have always
wanted one, but I am not willing to learn enough about their care and maintenance
to keep one correctly. Particularly a modded one. The carfax is clean and the extra
Z06 wheels come with the truck at the $7200 price. This is a very clean Ty.

It's a '93 Ty, white/white w/77k miles. All original paint.The build is pretty close to what's appearing to become the standard SyTy "go-fast" recipe:
Stock block, .030 over, 4-bolt mains
Comp 412 cam
Comp Pro Magnum 1.6 ratio roller rockers
TRW pistons
Eagle rods
Vortec heads, redrilled for old intake bolt pattern, with 2.05 intake and 1.6 exhaust valves.
Heads gasket-matched to the Felpro 1203 (??? it's whatever jwaller recommended) gaskets, and then given a slight bowl job.
Stock intake welded up to match the Vortecs and the gaskets, and then ported.
50-lb injectors.
PTE PT52 turbo and downpipe kit.
Ultimate chip 10-pack prom. AEM wideband O2 gauge FP, EGT, INTAKE TEMP, Tranny Fluid temp, and Boost gauges in A-pillar. Group buy Oversize sway bars front and rear. PWR aluminum radiator. ATR aluminum driveshaft and front prop shaft with front/rear driveshaft loops. Tranny is well built(upgraded servos, sprags, clutch packs, valve body, deep pan) with 9/11 convertor(2900 stall).
Of course, there are some non-standard things, too:
CAS single-core A2A IC, with some small mods.
Homemade cold air intake.
DMH electric exhaust valve
lots of time spent tuning.
Snow Stage 2 Water/Meth injection with 675ml nozzle.
I should also mention that my Ty has a full exhaust: functional catalytic converter, big muffler and ATR 3" piping; and that I did those runs with the dump valve closed -- I wanted to see what it would do on the street before I tried the strip-only stuff (open the dump and add race gas). The truck is also fully-equipped (ABS, A/C, etc), and full-interior -- nothing stripped or deleted. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Just got my heads back from the porting shop, and thought I'd post some flow numbers. This compares my old heads (heavily worked L35s with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves) to my new heads (2.05 intake and 1.6 exhaust valves) both before and after porting (bowl job and intake gasket match). All values are in CFM at 28 inches of water.

The intake flow of the Vortec peaked at .500 lift and dropped off after that. They said it was because the flow was stalling at the bottle-neck where the intake passed the pushrod. Since I'm only planning to run .533 lift (412 cam and 1.6 roller rockers), that shouldn't be a problem.Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1.6 roller rockers fit just fine with Vortec heads (redrilled for SBC studs), Vortec valve covers and a Comp 412 cam (.533 total lift at the valve). The valve covers require some slight clearancing with a dremel, but not much, and less than the Crane rockers would. As I've said before, NO SPACER IS NEEDED with the Vortec heads and valve covers with the Comp rockers.
