Hello,
I just purchased a TY off a local website for $1500. It didn't run when I got it because someone put a battery in backwards. I got it home and replaced a wire from the batt to the alt and started it up. I have spent a little time trying to get it good for inspection. I had to put new callipers and wheel cylinders on because there was a broken brake line I replaced and couldn't blead. This poor truck has not been loved for a long time. I'll tell ya it is good hands now.

The truck is naked (no cladding at all, no holes or anything). Think I'm gonna keep it that way (besides that $h!t is kinda pricy). I got alot of work to do, but I think I got a steal on it

I have wanted one of these sence I saw one at an auto show in '92 and now I have one I'm pretty stoked about it. (and yes its a vin Z not a transplant)

So there is no evidence that there was ever cladding on it? I wonder what the story behind this thing is?? Does it have a Ty interior/cluster/etc?

nice find !! may have been deleted already but no cruise or abs , just two less things to remove.

Wow thats neato dude. I'm reading it and thinking, this dude bought a jimmy whats he talking about typhoon? Then I saw the motor. Is this truck AWD or did somebody put a sy/ty motor into a 4x4 jimmy?

This Ty was for sale on Autotrader in August 2005 in Salisbury, NC for $6500 w/ 147k miles. The old Autotrader printout I have lists it as All Wheel Drive and the VIN according to this is 1GDCT18Z6P0810994. The ad also stated "runs & drives awesome." I think you got a really good deal on this one.

Interesting, thats the VIN on the truck!!


the RPO sticker is illegable but the floor boards, firewall and inderside are the same garnett. There is NO evidence of the cladding at all!!

I have put my ZO6 chrome replicas with 275-40-17. It does drive good and runs good but I think that there hasen't been any service done on it sence then. I have alot of things to do on it yet. I did go to the yard today and got a new rearview mirrir w/lights and new controls for the lights and HVAC maby I can get the heat to work, then the wipers

well I found the vacuume line for the damper motor, got all the heat controls working. Then i chopped the upper radiator hose on the Alt fan. Taking a good look at what happened and found the tab on the shroud was broken off and there wasn't anything holding it back. Oh well. Got that fixed. I also took out the air intake crossover and found about 1/2" on each end was tapped on to the end of the tube. I took all that off so it wouldn't get sucked into the turbo. I guess that the next project is to change the signal/wiper switch ( have 2 to do between me and my buddys SY)

This truck is way too much fun!!!!! (alot more fun then my 94Z28)

I called about that ty a few years ago, ran the VIN through the GM parts computer and sho nuff it was a Ty VIN.

Gonna try to get some new pics up here this weekend, of the TY and my 87 Fiero GT :) they are close to the same color. I have acuired both cars over the last year and have less then $4000 in both. I hate to have to sell off my last toy but financial stability is more important then toys. So I have to let go of the 94 Z28 that I have been modding for the last 4 years. I now have 2 of the cars that I have wanted for the longest time, I can do without it,

I also have a Naked Typhoon...

Mine's white and came with out cladding.

But mine has ALOT less parts right now... guys up in MI stripped it and now I've got to get everything back where it should be.
With yours and mine that's 2 out of 5 that were made with no cladding. (From what I have heard)
