our throttle bodies are the LT1 stock throttle body. We just have a different cable linkage connection. Otherwise, they are the same piece. As for the upgrade, its one of those things that never hurts but unless you are shooting for big numbers and very low times, its money better spent elsewhere. The stock throttle body has gotten a lot of trucks going really fast.

Yeah, I've got a couple sitting here, but they aren't the sexiest looking Throttle bodies... was thinking of buying a twin 58 since they are only a couple hundred bones on eBay... just kinda wondered if it was worth it or I could save a few by just cleaning up one of the ones I already have and powder coating it...

In 2008 I was lucky enough to get to race two LT1 Firebirds in NHRA Stock and Super Stock. In both classes cars were required to run stock unaltered 52mm throttle bodies. On dyno the stock throttle body did not impair the engine performance until reaching around the 550hp mark and above 6500 RPM.
So in our low RPM boosted application I doubt any significant HP gains would be seen.:tup:

A stock LT1 TB can also be ported to 53 or even 54 mm if you're careful.
