Re: turnerpor questions

Sounds like it might be aldl mode since you havent loaded the ostrich with a bin file. When using tunerpro to emulate there is no bin "saved" to the ostrich. I use the emulity to load the bin to the ostrich when I am running without a laptop.

Battery in ostrich loose/bad?

Loose/sensitive connections at EPROM adapter? (Very common)

Re: turnerpor questions

Battery shouldn't be bad just got the Ostrich 3 days ago, even with the computer off if I pluged the USB cable in it would run right, now if i unhooked the cable with the computer on or off it would go into limp mode

Re: turnerpor questions

The ostrich has nothing to do with ALDL at this point. Are you sure you don't have an Autoprom? With the Autoprom you could run into a problem if you have the switches on it set incorrectly.

If it is an ostrich, I would contact Moates at this point. Sounds like there could be a problem with it.

Re: turnerpor questions

I will try again when i get the chance this weekend, would it do this if the Ostrich battery was dead?
This is the procedure I use to use the Ostrich. plug the usb cable into the usb port on my laptop, plug the usb cable into the Ostrich, start tuner pro, find the bin I want to use, click the up arrow to load the bin to the Ostrich (it say upload complete or something like this) then I click the emulation butten, make changes with turner pro click the change butten all done.Crank the TY I unhook the usb from the Ostrich and it goes in limp mode?

Re: turnerpor questions

If memory serves its a 9v . The ostrich will get power from the laptop if its batt is dead , maybe thats why it goes out when you unhook it .

Re: turnerpor questions

has it ever worked? Almost sounds like you have the cable at the ECM plugged in backwords...

Re: turnerpor questions

f i plug it backwords it will not crank or run. No i have never had it to work just got it a few days ago. I tested the batteries they checked out good. Am I supposed to unhook it some special way ie.. turn tuner pro off first then unplug the cable etc..

Re: turnerpor questions

Try saving your bin which will recalculate them checksum, then bring up the checksum and "update" it so you loaded bin has the most recently calculated checksum. Then try disconnecting and see what happens.

Re: turnerpor questions

If it is plugged in backwords it will be in Limp Home mode. As the chip will be seen as bad. I am talking about the ribbon cable end that plugs into the ECM. That should like it is in backwords. Won't hurt flipping it around.

This is how it should be plugged in.
