Sure ,no problem
I would say if you go w/a 20G turbo & a stock converter try & get a 12 CM turbine housing.

Just a little FYI, I have a 14 and it spools great. I know I have a 3k stall but I didn't always. Before I had a cheap $200 local built 2500 stall and it always spooled up perfect.

That is why I stated this earlier
"But,unless you have a loose converter that stalls to 2600-2800 RPM range, the 14 CM housing is too big for quick turbo spool up." ;)
2100-2200 "STOCK"stall is not enough.

I can't argue with you there since I never had a stall that low with the 20g. You win

Re: turbo ?

You cna get a 2500 stall done with your stock TC for dirt cheap, around 200-300. If you wnat a better quality, you can expect to pay 4-900. IMO, the cheap 2500 will work out great as long as you have someone do it who knows what they are doing. I had a lot of people tell me not to do that because they are cheap but I honestly never had a problem with hte ones these local guys make.

Re: turbo ?

anyone have an opinion on the waller modified stock turbo i was reading his thread and would it spool quicker with the stock TC and how would it compare to the 20g

It will rev close to the same as stock, maybe a bit quicker because it will get more air to the engine sooner.

It will have a bigger compressor wheel than a 20G,but it will also be restricted by the small 8CM turbine housing.

ALL in all, IMO,,,I would say for a stock converter Syclone,,,the Waller turbo will be stronger low to mid range, but give up a little on the top end over a stock TDO6H-20g turbo. It is because of the small 8 CM turbine housing.

Better drivability w/the Waller turbo = more fun.

You can get a 12 CM housing for a Waller turbo that will bolt right on, then later if you decide to go w/a TDO6H-20 G turbine wheel, you can have the 12 CM housing machined to fit the 20G turbo.
Make sense?

Re: turbo ?

yea
also i was considering some mods like vortecs and rollers along with pistons etc. would the waller or the 20g be better go with for the mods i plan on around 400 hp so i have been reading a great amount on here on which would serve me better towards the mods i would like

Re: turbo ?

My Syclone made 386 HP w/a TDO6H-20G w/a 12 CM turbine housing & 550 ft lbs of torque,w/21 PSI boost pressure
My engine is 100% unopened, untouched long block.

Re: turbo ?

those r good number and what i understand is that you can pull around that with either turbo does the 20g on your truck spool fast?

It used to spool really fast w/a stock 8CM housing, but it did not pull great on the top end.
it spooled pretty quick when I had the 12 CM housing on it.

Now the turbo has a 60-1 compressor wheel in it.

Tooky

Serious about performance

It depends on what your goals are. You gotta make up your mind what combo you want to build and then get a turbo that matches for the boost pressure you plan to run. If you do vortecs and a cam then you should get a turbo at least as big as a PT51 IMO, all the way up to a PT67 if you plan on running 25+ PSI Boost on high octane. If you're never gonna run anything but pump gas it would be pointless to get a huge turbo and counterproductive.

If you wanna read up on some combos and what kinda ET/MPH they run for pump gas & race gas boost levels, check this article on my website:

Re: turbo ?

ok i read the article and im aiming for stage 2 that deffinately sounds like what i want but i also want to go in and replace a few things in the engine to clean it up because how it is it really needs a decent rebuild going off of a stage 2 build what could i expect with stock heads and a roller cams and at that point id expect to stick with the waller upgrade
