turbo drain block

Does anyone have any suggestions on removing the 90 degree fitting on the side of the pan for the oil drain line. I just bought an rpm braided line and i can't get the thing to budge. I really just want to get the nipple off of the block but the only part that will move is the nut on side of the pan.

Re: turbo drain block

i dont know if my truck is somehow differnet. But there is a nipple that the rubber hose was on and it is too long to simply just unscrew it from the side of the pan the nipple is screwed on to the 90 degree fitting but it is seized and i can wacth the pan flex when i try to loosen it i don't really want to tear up the pan then have to pull the engine to put a pan it.

Re: turbo drain block

get a torch on it to cycle some heat and loosen it. Use a large wrench on the 90 fitting to counter the torque from removing the barbed end. It'll come.

I had the same issue. Just need to counter the twisting with another spanner/wrench.

Re: turbo drain block

I think one is steel and the other is brass - two different metals in contact with each other and you get weird oxidation/corrosion effects.

Can you take a pic of it and post up here?

Re: turbo drain block

i managed to get the whole fitting to turn but as i am sure you know it hits the pan when you try to remove it.

Re: turbo drain block

yep very very tight i even turned it straight down and and used a long extentison and breaker bar that wouldn't touch it so i at this point i had a feeling i had to pull the pan so i got out my 3/8 impact set it as low as it would go used a wrench behind it to hold the fitting and it hammered once and the weld went. I have a stock 4wd oil pan so i just need to put a 90 degree fitting in it but i am not real sure on how to pull the diff i have searched on here and i can't get a solid answer. Some threads say it is horrible and others make it sound easy.

Re: turbo drain block

front diff made easy

Also, are you running stock lines? If you can, change them out to braided. I have a braided hose for sale if you are interested.

The orange oil feed line is one that you can cut and use the flange to weld onto another hose. I hate those hoses - first thing I ever did to my truck.

Re: turbo drain block

there's a quarter-sized o-ring in there you might wanna change while you're there. Mine's been drippin' for a while; I got the 0-ring and braided line from RPM...I just haven't taken the leap quite yet cause I know what a PITA this is. :squint:
