Re: turbo 400 swap?

advanced adaptors has a kit, and you just need to re-do the driveshafts on your own. if you do a th350 you can keep the stock driveshafts.

You should take pics of this project from start to finish, and everything in between. There are alot of us that may be doing this in the future. Thanks and good luck.

Ed Hess had a good write up.

But I couldn't find it right now :(

Re: turbo 400 swap?

If you do the TH400, contact PATC for a modified vacuum modulator. It is set up like a TV cable for boosted applications. So your pressures are determined by throttle position and the weird upshift characteristics are taken care of.

#4X. 350 / 400 Cable Operated Modulator, no vacuum needed. This works well for superchargers and on diesel motors without a vacuum regulator. This modulator uses a 700R4 throttle valve cable. Cost $113.00

Since the syty comes with a 700r4 TV cable setup, this would bolt right in.

Re: turbo 400 swap?

Just came across this thread, if I read right a turbo 350 needs no adapter and uses stock driveshafts? So if I have a T350 from a 4x4 it all bolts up?

Any input will help

Re: turbo 400 swap?

i thought a 400 is little over 2000 grand?dont you need all the electronics for the 80e?I really dont care about od to much,I dont think i have to worry about this 700 breaking but if it ever did.

Re: turbo 400 swap?

If you going to keep the AWD then you will need
Adaper plate for the transfercase ($200)
output shaft or input shaft depend which way you go. ($450-800)
cross member ($200 + - )
Dipstick ($60)
Brackets ( for shift linkage, transfercase to transmission) ($100)
drive shafts -longer front and shorter rear ($350 - 600 )

plus the th400

or plus 4l80e + controller

Re: turbo 400 swap?

4l80e is a 400 inside with an overdrive added, and electronics for shifting.

Rossler just came out with a $300 manual controller that is a budget option.

Really personal preference if you want to keep OD and the cost associated to do that.

4l80e convertors are also a lot more money.

Everybody will have different goals, ideas, budgets, plans. No 1 correct answer to this.

I do love the 4l80e though.
