Mr. Keith
I have a 93 Ty in Rapid City, SD. Next month, she gets to come out and play however I need her tuned BADLY! Anyone care to do the honor? I havent ran into anyone in my area who can at least tell me whats going on with it. Anyway, I need help and eventually, my truck will travel to NJ but in its present condition, I am not sure if she will make it. She stalls when she idles and so you can imagine trying to travel dealing with that issue (its a 1700mi trip)...Need help badly. She has 50# injs, full 3" exhaust no cat, adjfpr, Phil long chip with 3 bar map, Hi flow fp, 2500 stall and 140 amp alt. The last time a datamaster was put on her there was no codes but had significant knock. I do have a loose motor mount on the drivers side. So, I am reaching out for help here. I had all the ign parts replaced except the module and I run MSD with it. Help, Help, Help!!!

Re: Tuning Help

No humanitarians out there? Come on! I got to get my truck home. AAA wont tow it 1700 miles. My truck is gathering dust and feels unloved. She only has 75K miles on her at the most. She is still in her prime so it cant be anything too serious right? Seriously, I could use all the help I can get. Mechanically, I just dont have what it takes to work on my truck and I'm not ready to give her up just yet.

I'm about 6-7 hours away in the Fargo area. Rik is up in Belle Fourche, close to you.
He's got a scan tool, and one of my EPROM burners... maybe the 2 of you can get together.

What are you looking to have done?

Right now I just want to have a fair sense of confidence that I can drive it home. I was using a chip of yours you gave to rik but unfortunately I broke it trying to place it in the ecm. I did get to use it for a bit and my truck ran better for a bit but the stalling came back and the overall questionable operation became a factor again. I have a phil long chip but i get unusual readings from my O2 sensor when I run a dm so I am cliueless. Does Rik still have his truck?

I have an "upgraded gn turbo" on it. I dont know what size it is other than it is bigger than stock.

I'll be in Sheridan, Wyoming for the next two weeks - relatively close, but don't know whether that could help you or not... I've done a bit of tuning with $59

Re: Tuning Help

u dont even need a o2 sensor in open loop,im guessing that is why your readings are wacky,u need to get a wbo2 is the truck up to shape as far as ignition etc,do u have 50 pound injectors and a 3 bar map also

I wont be in SD until next month. I am visiting family and I plan to clean my truck up a bit and try to figure whats going on with it because it will be coming home with me next year. I'm hoping I can set something up to where I can get a little closer to whats happening. I have an engine tie down which I will have installed that "may" address some of the knock thats there. I have a brand new engine in her with stock internals. The previous engine ran on a 2bar chip and ran insane. Change out the motor and now I have peculiar operation. She hasnt been the same since. It has 8:1 pistons and thats the only difference I can tell. Putting it plainly, I need expert help since the mechanics of the area have no clue. I get the ole " Is that a Syclone?" but no one wants to really deal with it for lack of knowledge. So around the middle of the month I plan to be in town for just under a week and hope I can address the driveability issues while I'm there.........

I have gone back and forth between the ur5 and ur6s and they are relatively new. Plug wires, cap and rotor are all new. I do have 50# injectors and have both a 2bar chip and a 3bar chip. I was considering just going back to the 2bar chip and dealing with that just to get home but it sometimes stalls with it too.

Re: Tuning Help

plugs arent gonna make that kind of difference, that truck with that chip if the motor is all stock should run like a watch

Re: Tuning Help

I bought it modified from someone who went thru motors (3 if I can remember). I wasnt aware of this until I got on the phone with some of the shops he dealt with. I dont know if it has a different cam in it. I just know of the obvious changes to the vehicle but I am going to try to contact the previous owner again to see if he can clue me in on everything.

Just remember if you have a chip that's coded for 3bar then you need to run a 3 bar with it. same goes for a 2 bar chip.. if not she'll run like shit.. also stalling brings vacuum leak to my mind.. have you checked for any vacuum leaks??

Thats right......I got my silicon hoses after I left my truck. Thats something I will try to address as well while I am in town. I also have to change out the starter. Not looking forward to that. In fact, I will have that done because I am pretty short fused when it comes to this truck....It appears nothing is easy. Btw, once I get my truck home I hope to make it to one of the get togethers in NJ. I have met a couple sytyers here, one with a unique looking truck....I believe his name is Dennis....
