TT LSX TY back down the track(video)

1st off vid will be up tomorrow....so after months of just driving it and avoiding the track due to lack of safety equipment I finally caved to peer pressure last friday, still at 10psi,still on 4 dr's,still driven 37 miles to the track.1st pass no cool down as soon as i got through tech I made the pass 9.7@140mph! and my 60' time was 4 tenths off of what it consistantly does due to a crap burn-out,so I truly believe that it would have gone a 6 or possible a 5 with a better(normal)short time.So after realizing the air must be really good I cranked it up to 17psi and went for another pass after a 1hour cool down.....do a much better burn-out put it on the 2 step,launch....something pop's and i come to a stop, assuming that the front cv broke iI called up AAA for a ride home:lol:anyways got it up on the rack and discovered that the rear diff let go,and after thinking about it Im really not suprised after all it was a stock 1970 12 bolt diff,so it has now been replaced with a detroit tru-trac,and I am heading back to the track on the 15th of Oct.......8"s or bust.......something else!!!

Nice run, lol for the safety stuff. I went 9.7 in my gto w/ no cage and wearing flip flops and was kindly told to leave the track:rotf:.

yeah i get similar treatment:Di just have a problem loading my truck with all that equipment just to make a pass or 2 a year down the track....i know its for my own good but all reality is that a cage is way more dangerous in a street car that is driven on the street regularly, all it would take is a 10mph fender bender and hitting your head on the roll bar w/o a helmet on and your done,of course thats just mt opinon:2cents:

And wear your harnesses instead of just a lap belt (at least the shoulder/lap belts). I'm assuming yours isn't a daily driver so it really is not that big of an inconvenience. Not that a heavily modified 20 year old S-truck designed to go a top speed of roughly 90mph isn't completely safe already, but the roll cage is is a nice extra. :)

Great run by the way. That thing is screaming. Very nice.

actually i drive it on the street almost daily in the nice weather 100 miles round trip to work and back, between 5-10k miles per year, plus my wife and 2 kids go with me in it all the time as well,I guess we can all wear helmets:rotf:and from past expirance that padding isnt very soft and would really do some damage w/o a helmet on:2cents:

Re: TT LSX TY back down the track

After a lot of reluctance I put a cage in my ty 2 yrs ago before I did the open road race. With that said if the tech inspector got picky I know of 2 things not right with it in terms of "specs" but I doubt most would notice 1 of them for sure, and the 2nd I doubt even if they did would cause me to no be able to race.

My door bars remove in 15 seconds, and rear bar behind seat removes in 5 minutes (1 of the 2 not to spec features). Once those are removed you really don't even notice it is installed. As stated you gotta pad the bars, and yes the padding is not soft, but I suspect its as soft as the pillars are should your noggin hit it. My main hoop is behind the seat enough and tucked up to headliner tight I doubt with a belt on my head would make contact.

But for a vehicle you race once or twice a year yet drive daily I'd be debating the same thing myself.

congrats on the times, even better to see you drive it around that makes it even more of an accomplishment in my book.

Nice run. Running on the stock wheels. Do you have enough tire on the stockers? What size tires are you running?

thanks guys, yes there is plenty of tire, that bun out sucked, usually it generates alot of smoke from all 4 tires that was my fault,i run 4 mickey thompson dr's 255/60/16,every other pass on the 2 step it goes 1.40 60' times, that run was a 1.446,so it was off a bit

Really impressive. Definitely the benefit of building the TT LSX versus a big bad V6 in my opinion. Man I wish I had gone the LSX route....lol. Good job man. Seriously.
