Truck was shaking when I took it on the highway ---

I recently went on a 400 mile round trip ride in my Syclone. For some reason around 60-70 I was feeling it TREMBLE. It felt like it was either coming from the tranny, front tires, or maybe even the engine? It seemed to do with a certain speed of the vehicle and not engine speed or tranny gear I would put it in. All of my gauges read normal.

It was enough that a girl I was with said...."why did your truck start to ride rougher"., and it even got a deeper grumble too. Could it be the front driveline? How about the wastegate malfunctioning.....I have no clue when it comes to that.

Atleast I made it home, but I am sorta confused now. I may have a 1/2 quart too much oil in it, would that matter? ---

Maybe a weight came off the front wheel. When i mean weight the ones they put on the wheels when they do a balance. Hey it happened to me with my old car you never know.

Good idea...I will check and see if I can notice any "clean" spots. I do have the glued on ones, and they have only been balanced once.....THANKS!!! ---

ps, was it shaking so much you could notice it in your pedal and seats? ---

When i hit about 60MPH + I felt it in the whole car. From 45-55 it was just in the steering wheel.

You may not even be able to tell if the tires are out of balance. As they wear down they go out of balance as heavier areas wear away, that is one reason why wheel weights are removable.

I only have 2k miles on these tires though, but it may be enough to mess it up? I tightened the lugs awhile back like they said. It almost felt like they were loose ---

When I first got it, my truck wouldn't go over 45 mph without shaking me to pieces - Turned out to be the front drive shaft. If you rule out tire balancing, you might try removing the propshaft and taking the truck up to speed again to see if that's your issue.

I would start with looking at the tires also. Even new tires can break a belt internally and cause these types of things.

If the tires check out, then it's time to dig deeper.

Yeah, I should just get a gilbert while I am at it. I was thinking t/converter but it didnt change when I was playing through the gears.

I drive the truck atleast once a week, so I dont think I should have "flat spots" in the tires...especially after the 400 mile cruise.....THANKS GUYS ---

Pretty sure it is the propshaft. I thought it was converter shudder as well. I pulled the stock shaft and the vibration went away. There was no sign of a torn boot either on the propshaft. Put a Gilbert on and it is still vibration free.

Pull the front propshaft.. drive it around and that'll rule that out.. Each time i've ever had this type of issue in the syclone. It was always the god damn stock or modified propshaft!

So I am guessing pulling the propshaft is EASY?! How much should I pay a shop to replace it for a Gilbert?! The feeling is not going away.....and its NOT in my steering.....I just feel it in the entire truck ( but the steering, haha ). Thanks everyone ---

ps the sound enhances when I let it COAST to a stop :( ---

Don't pay a shop to do it. Removing the stock propshaft is easy and pretty self explanatory when you get under there. If your problem is still there, put it back. Honestly though, I would be surprised if it wasn't the propshaft because your problems sound identical to mine when my propshaft was messed up. Plus, putting a Gilbert in it is just good piece of mind.

Mine too.... There is a bit of a vibration while driving but at 60mph.... Weeeee hold on! Feels like you are riding a rodeo bull! WOOOO!!!

Im about to take the wheels and tires off the other Typhoon and see if its the tires on the Ty after sitting for 1 1/2 years... If its the propshaft, I suppose I have one of those as well. lol

maybe one of your spark plug boots popped off and its misfiring?

I would atleast check out your propshaft before driving it again. Usually when they break they also take some else out of value.

What would it feel like if it was wheel bearings?! This started to happen a couple thousand miles after I too the cutting blade to the front axles to get the zo6's to mount up....hmmm ---
