My trans went out right after I got my sy a few years ago. Rebuilt under warranty, it performed the same as the stock one(except for cleaner shifts, smoother launches, etc.). 5K miles later(recently)my new perf. motor was installed at what I thought was a reputable shop(Stevens Creek Pontiac/GMC in San Jose) but they misaligned my torque conv. and flexplate with the motor, causing total trany disintigration in just a few hundred miles. In SD I had a great shop get me a new GM crate transmission, upgrade the shift packs and valve body and install it. The question is my stock tranny(before and after the rebuild would stay engaged with the engine at freeway speeds when coasting in OD, so use could use engine braking. My new GM trans stayed engaged when decelerating in D,2 and 1, but in OD it'll frewheel(like being in neutral) while decelerating in all gears, at any speed. I miss my engine braking. What gives and what to do to get it back? I've double and triple checked the part #s and it's the right part. Mechanic thinks GM changed this feature recently on this trans. Any thoughts would be helpful and I'd like to hear what everyone else's does.
