Transmission shift cable

Hello fellow Stormers, I have a 93 TY blk/blk number 704. I have had it going on 4 yrs. Has 70,000 on it. Just recently my shift cable snapped and well you know the cable is no longer available through GM. I found out there was a recall on this part back in 93. But this is no good to me. I just want to get mine fixed, Dorman sells one, but from reading all threads have found out that they're no good neither. So where can I get a heavy duty cable from?

Did you mean the TV cable? (throttle body to trans)

or

Shift cable? (gear select shifter to trans)

Yes, it is the shift cable. Not the TV cable, I understand what the TV cable does. But I can't get the tranny into gear. Have taken the console out and the cable connected to the shifter has no tension on it when I pull on it. The truck will not move, unless I get up under the truck and put it in gear manually.

Can I buy one that's better than the OEM? And from where?
