Hey guys, I just want to change the transmission filter and fluid on a 92 Typhoon that I bought and haven't drove it yet. I wanted to do through tune up on it and change all the fluids and filters like fuel and tranny and oil.

So anyways, can u guys tell me the part numbers or exact model or brand stuff I should use. I am going to do search function and find it and post it here if that is correct or not.

Thanks

I'd use the NGK UR5 plugs gapped at .035"

www.sytyauthority.net
part#s are all there...

Transfilter is for a 700R4 should come with a pan gasket
Use mobil1 Synthetic trans fluid

replace your trasnfercase fluid with Mobil1 ATF as well

Front and rear Diffs get 75w mobil1 gear lube
You'll need a rear diff gasket too
7.5" rearend 10 bolt.

Don't forget your fuel filter and PCV valves

I did not find the part number for the transmission filter

Just ask for a filter and gasket for a 92 700R4.
There are too many random Numbers out there for me to chart them all.
I don't bother with the common part#s like such.

You might want to consider getting one of those big "cookie sheets" that they sell at parts stores for the transmission. If you have never changed the ATF before, have "fun" because there isn't a drainplug :D ! You have to loosen all the bolts, break the gasket and let it all run out the front, back and/or side of the pan. It can get very messy. That's why when I did mine, I put a deeper cast aluminum one by TCI on with a magnetic pick up drainplug  . When you remove your old transmission filter, be sure the old seal comes out of the bore. You'll see what it looks like on your new filter. I used one of those tools for opening paint cans to get mine out. Becareful not to scratch the bore. HTH's

Yep, same here. At the first ATF change after I got the truck I put on a Derale deep pan with a drain plug...

So do yourself a favour and order a deep pan. Derale, TCI... I'm not sure on the TCI, but you can use the stock filter with the Derale. You might need to get a filter with a longer neck for the TCI. I'm sure Mike can clarify this...

A special filter is not required for the TCI pan. Like the Derale, it holds two additional quarts of ATF. The filter rests on top of the cooling tubes on the Derale whereas on the TCI pan, it has four "pins" cast into the bottom to support the filter. HTH's

By using a liquid extractor, I can change engine oil and trans oil in about 10 mins without a drop of oil spilled.

Pretty sweet...works pneumatically.

Trans case I have a Fumoto valve installed, which I can drain and inject the exact amount of fluid into the T-case by way of a syringe type extractor.

ATR makes a cool rear diff cover with a drain built in, which makes rear fluids a breeze. Still havent found a cool way to drain the front diff yet.

Hope this helps

I have drilled a hole in the front transfer case and tapped the hole and used a plug in its place. It works great.

So, I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that you can't change all the tranny fluid by draining the pan. Only a little more than half. The rest is in the torque converter and won't drain out.

I go to a lube shop where they have the gizmo to hook up inline with the tranny cooler. 100% removal of old fluid, 100% new fluid in. It costs more, especially using Mobil1, but compared to a lunched tranny, it's cheap.

I looked around and found a shop that charges me for the service assuming the cheap ATF, but I supply my own Mobil1 and redline additive.

I make life easier for them by pulling the passenger side fenderwell before I go. Makes it a breeze to get at the tranny cooler fitting.
FWIW....

I did a filter change and also put the tci deep trans pan on and now it doesn't shift hard at all what should i do? Jonathan
also i use castrol dexron 3 in it do i need to drain it and put mobil one in it because before i changed it it would shift so hard that it would chirp 3rd (propshft out) and now it sucks?

With automatic trannies, if the haven't been service in reasonable amount of mileage, it is not advisable to change the fluid. Once the tranny fluid gets old and breaks down, it ruin the transmission clutches. The clutch material ends up in the fluid creating an interdependent relationship between the old worn out fluid and the ruined clutches. If the fluid is changed or flush the clutch material is remove and will usually cause transmission slipping after a while.
