Transmission Cooler

Hey guys,

I have done lots of searches but not come up with too much on this.

My 2800 stall is in the middle of the atlantic and due here in a couple of weeks and I guess I had better plan on installing a tranny cooler at the same time the TC goes in.

People have mentioned the B&M but I don't know which one.

Has anyone got any pics of a cooler installed? As usual I am after part numbers and the location of where it would go. Sources? Prices?

I cannot believe how much money I have spent on parts for this thing already lol!

As always, thanks guys.

dumb question but why?

Because it's better to pay a bit more upfront for something you KNOW will work properly than to save 3 nickels and a dime and get some shit that might or might not work.

Re: Transmission Cooler

I used a Hayden 404 and mounted it behind the CCHE (I have aux CCHE's in the grille area). With the CCHE scoop, trans stays nice and cool.

Re: Transmission Cooler

I understand that - I meant why would it not work?

Mike's kit is BMM - 70266. This kit is BMM - 70268 so I thought it would be in the ball park?

I can only guess that it is a barb fitting that makes this incompatible which is annoying. Dammit.

Being in the UK sucks.

Re: Transmission Cooler

i'll sell you a nice OEM CASE Ih oilcooler, but it will cost a few more than that, but it's easy to mount under the bed, and it's XXL ;)

Re: Transmission Cooler

the fittings in the Powerglade kit and or the TH400 wont be right for you tranny. I suppose the cooler fittings would work but you will still need the right ones for the rad if you plan on keeping it.

keep in mind : size matters

:haha: :haha: :haha:

... every kind of liquidcooler can be used somehow as a trannycooler, just check the connections to fit anyhow ;)

at least it all depends on the location you wanna mount it IMO ...

eg. an old heatercore or motorcycle-cooler can also do the job, just :2cents:

Have to jump in here and disagree. Radiators and heater cores are designed to operate around 20 psi. They WILL fail if you subject them to 100 psi.

That is the one I like the best - bigger though. I am going to buy the one without the fan on so I can be sure of getting one that fits! Also, with the electric fan is the thermostat integral or does it require an external switch?

One thing though - what are people using to get the temp sensor into the flow?

I will get the remote filter from there as well. All that is left are the braided hoses I guess..

Anyone got a parts list for those? (Still searching!!)

:)

Re: Transmission Cooler

I believe that is the same cooler I have, but my filter is mounted where the vacuum ball is supposed to go. I changed my filter (after finding out I had a tranny cooler) this summer and it does seem to shift a little later and firmer for me :dunno:

Re: Transmission Cooler

There was no room by the vac ball to put my filter. With the alky pump, a2a pipe and filter there was no room.
