bro...i'd rebuild it using stronger parts and while you got it out mine as well add a 9/11 TC to it....

I recommend Brian Hartman as he has done MUCH for me. Great guy!

Email me and i'll give you his contact info.

Hmmmm. Check around locally first. Talk to some places and see if they are perceptive to what you want/need. You don't need a shift kit with a stock syty valve body. Only things they really need are the larger 2-4 band, new sprags(both of them),and I really like the Alto Red Eagle frictions with the 9 clutch 3-4 stack. There is a pressure regulator mod that needs done and drilling on a certain bleed hole in the pump and you'll want a .500 TV boost valve or larger and that's it. There's tons of other stuff that can be done but it would work fine with normal use with just the items above. Just as long as it is done right and the bushings are replaced(this should be done when the tranny is rebuilt but some shops just don't do it).
You should'nt have any trouble finding someone that will do it. Find a place that doesn't mind you asking questions and a place that will actually look at the truck before they work on it.
Don't take it to a place that swaps your tranny for one sitting on the shelf. It will never be right.
Look around for TC prices. Look at what you want versus cost. Don't let someone talk you into thinking you bought the best in the world just because you paid tons of money for it. Don't go over a 2800 rpm stall unless you have a turbo or cam that needs it. If you plan on staying with a stock turbo, the stock maybe slightly higher stall is fine.

They have 9/11 converter prices and available stalls listed at the bottom.(lots of other stuff too). I've used their stuff.
Take care,
