Transfer case bushing

When I pull the tail end of the transfer case will it have fluid in it? I need to replace the bushing at the end of the tail end where the drive shaft and transfer case meet. This was causing alot of vibration at the 35 - 40 mark.

Bushing

Hi Hu Ryde!
I experienced the same thing! When you remove the tail housing, a small amount of tranny fluid will leak out, maybe a cup full! However the tail shaft bushing is not sold at even a GM store! What I did was take it to a tranny shop, and they replaced it as well as a new seal, costs $30.00 Canadian, so for you this would be pocket change in US currency!

GM didn't have that bushing? I found it at a Napa here locally for $3.50? Wonder why? Anyway thanks for the info. What kind of seal did you seal it up with? RTV? Gasket?

Hey, Jesse!
I just looked over the Typhoon suppliment. Doyou have the tail housing(extension) off? If so GM manual says to use Locktight on the sealing surface where it bolts up to the rest of the case. Do you have a part number for the seal on the outside? I was curious if this was the same as the seal that is in the transmission rebuild kits we got. I have that bushing install set. You want me to bring it over? I'm bringing the 700r4 update manual also.
