Transfer case brace

I just put the motor back in my truck and I noticed that my motor is slightly higher on the driver side making it almost impossible to reinstall the brace that runs from the transfer case to the tranny, so can I run without the brace or is this going to cause problems? I could pull the drive side manifolds and adjust the motor mount, but it looks like a serious pain in the a**.

Grind a bit of a 'ramp' on the engine side of the heavy walled front tube - that'll let you smack it to place a bit easier. Mine seemed just a CH to long, its a tight fit.

Re: Transfer case brace

Another thread revival:

I realized after putting in a 4L60E that the trans has a horizontal "ear" on the trans case (both sides) that interferes with the drivers side brace fitment.

I was thinking of leaving the brace off, but realized it must be there for a reason from the GM design engineers - I also respect wallers advisement ;).

To the grinder Batman

Does the 4L80E have the same issues?

Anyone run their set up without the brace?? (just curious)

it will fit with the 80E but you need to make it about a foot longer.( not quite but it needs to be longer)

I ran my track truck once without it and didn't notice anything but then again I took it easy on that pass.
