I'll have to price out both options, when people talk about rebuilding it themselves (those who have done it) they make it sound like its not that bad. I guess i'll wait to hear back from rpm, but then I have to figure out what pieces I would need to order, and price them out, and see what the differance is.

I would recommend that you convert the truck to 4L60e. The transmission will live much longer and is much easier to tune shift points. They are also much more consistant.



The transmission is $3295.00 outright, and the control box for the transmission is $850.00. This will use your converter and bolt right in your truck. This is a level 6 and is rated at 700whp.

Color me stupid, I thought that they were the same trans internaly but that the l60 used line pressure to shift rather than the cable. I didn;t think the l60 was stronger

60e is electronic, computer does the shifting and line pressure adjustments. Mechanically they are very similar, big issue is being electronic things can be adjusted a lot better, no compromises on line pressure while driving so you have good pressure for performance, etc.

Shift timing is also better since its electronic. Still not an 80e, but an improvement.

All boils down to budget and how much "insurance" you want to buy against broken parts later.
