Re: Trans Leaking

it's so cool to install a transfercase by yourself,!!! the tranny is easy with a stand for it, but transfercases rock

Re: Trans Leaking

Yeah...well mine will be in pieces again tomorrow. It still leaks. After all that it still f'n leaks. I did find the problem though..Wish I had looked harder the first time. I've got a crack in my TC. DOUBLE DAMN! Anyone know if I can just pull it and weld the crack up. It isn't that big. Looks like they just didn't get enough material in the weld. Otherwise I'll have to put the stocker back in until I can get it fixed/replaced.

Re: Trans Leaking

What kind of converter is it? I've been doing these for several years now and I've never had a converter crack. It sounds like a POS. I wouldn't weld it because then the balance will be off. I can get a stock converter and bring it to the nats if you want.

Re: Trans Leaking

Its a 6-7 year old 9/11. I'll just stick my stock one back in. Thanks George! And does that mean you are coming?

Re: Trans Leaking

Yep. I convinced the wife that it can be a family getaway. We won't be there until LATE Friday night or early Saturday morning though. I was hoping you hadn't done your truck yet. I was gonna bring a converter and the tools and I figured we could fix your truck and do pressure tests on it while we were over there. If it's back together don't take it apart. I don't mean for you to make more work for yourself.

Geroge, on a side note if you have any gov recal kits bring one with you to.

Not sure if my Ty will run this weekend or not but if it does I might go ahead and try to keep it from hitting the rev limiter at the shifts for once in a year and a half since I put this new tranny in.

Re: Trans Leaking

Yeah, your trans was a high pressure unit. At WOT it's gonna rev higher. You haven't done anything in a year and a half with the governor?

Brian, you broke the golden rule. Never put a used torque converter on the front of a new trans build. If you like your stall, you need to have it sent off, cleaned out and a new clutch put in it and welded back up and balanced. It's not worth the headache:(

Re: Trans Leaking

Ah..that explains it. I'm going to see if I can find a shop in the KC or STL area that can overhaul the 9/11 TC and I'll put it back in. I really appreciate all your help and I was glad you made it to the Nats so we could meet face to face. I'm sorry we didn't have more time to talk though. The nats crew is super busy on track day and as you know the Sunday breakfast is a whirlwind.
