Trans. Help

I dropped my tranny pan tonite to start the process of the swap. It was leaking fluid and didn't move the truck at all or go into gear unless it ran for a while. I noticed that the red connector in the picture wasn't properly seated. I had to push it in and heard a snap. Would this cause any problems? I was told a while ago that I had really low pump pressure. The pan is also pretty clean and the oil isn't burnt. It has 146k on it. Thanks in advance.

Re: Trans. Help

That wire doesnt do anything except control the Torque Converter Lockup Clutch at cruise in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear.

Your pan seems like it has an excessive amount of gray film/dust on the left side of that photo...

Re: Trans. Help

I've seen lots more metal with the trans still moving. sounds to me like you have a pump issue. either it's ground itself to pieces or it's totally busted the rotor alltogether. 146k is a lotta miles for ones of these. I'd consider myself lucky and rebuild it and move on.

Re: Trans. Help

I am pretty sure that it is gone also. I have a stock trans. from Toolman in Boston, MA that I am going to switch out to get the truck on the road again. Then I will use my stocker for a rebuild core. Thanks for the comments!

Re: Trans. Help

make sure you dont use your old converter or trans cooler and make sure you flush your cooler lines very well.

and yes that means you must replace your radiator. not just flush it. replace it.
