Trans Cooling

The trans is a 4L60. Is that the same pan as a 700R4? Any recommendations on deep pans?
Also any recommendations on a good trans cooler for a Ty?

4L60 == 700R4. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

I think the most common answer here is going to be "the biggest you can fit". Powerbraking launches build up a lot of heat, which destroys transmissions. The better your cooling, the less stress your launches will put on the tranny.

Just installed the DeRale cooling tube pan. FYI, it holds exactly 1.5 quarts more fluid than the stock Sy pan. Even though DeRale advertises "approximately" 1 quart extra.
The more fluid a pan holds the cooler the fluid, especially on powerbrake PSI launches.

With a deep trans pan, do I need a lower pickup for the filter? If so, where can I purchase one?

Cast aluminum pan better than steel?

here is a link to the Derale deep transmission pan that i bought. it came with a new fitler. it looked just like the old on. it did not seem to be any lower. easy to put on. pan did seem kinda thin and cheep made.
