Tranny Problem.

Hey Guys,
Everything was functioning flawlessly until I pulled off the highway to get some gas. When I tried to re-enter the highway my gears were running out WAY too long. Overdrive didn't want to kick in until 60MPH. Overdrive usually kicks in at around 40MPH. How did my tranny go from normal to goofy in a matter of a few minutes, and how do I fix this? Is there a way to change the shift points?

Hard to say over the net.

Obvious things are to check the fluid level and it's condition and check the TV cable.
If it turns out to be worse.............

If your trans is a original SyTy trans DO NOT let a trans shop touch the valvebody even if they say they are upgrading it. Most will actually downgrade it. DO NOT let just any trans shop do it unless someone reliable vouches for their work on SyTy's.

Thanks for linking me to the other tranny post... sounds like a horror story. I'll definately keep all of that in mind if my problem gets to that point. I checked my tranny fluid level while idling... fluid level is perfectly fine & is as pink as it comes. The trans is not slipping, and it goes through all the gears... but it's not shifting at the right RPM's or MPH. Is this most likely an issue with the TV cable? Is it a simple adjustment?

Hey guys,
Well, I tinkered around with the TV Cable... little to no result came from doing so. It looks like I'm going to have to find a reputable trans shop around here in order to get the problem diagnosed. I'll take your advice Jwaller, and have the guys there change the fluid and check the governer for debris. If that doesn't fix the problem... I don't even know what the next step is. Does anybody know of any reliable mechanics or shops in the Chambersburg, PA area? All of my fluid changing supplies, as well as everything else I need to work on the Ty is 150 miles away in my dad's garage.

don't waste your time goin to the dealer or local trans shops try and do the work yourself.. talk with les young he might know some ppl in that area that could help you.
