Tranny Gov Q

I had my Ty in a trans shop to have the POS GM Serta trans' valve body reworked to firm things up and take care of a freewheeling problem on decel. After I picked it up I realized he has the WOT shift point way to high. 4900RPM for the 1-2 shift. I asked him to change the gov springs to drop that down and he gave me a story about it being a project. Take pressure readings blah blah blah. Told me it's a whole day job. Now, on my Camaro, I played with gov. springs to get the RPM upshift where I wanted it. I explained to him that I did that. He asked what trans it was and I told him a 700R. He then tells me the 4L60 is a completly different trans and you can't control shift points like that. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck and know the 4L60 was a rebadge till it went to the 4L60E.

My question is, why couldn't I just put a lighter spring kit in the gov? The shift points are to high at part throttle too. It won't go into OD till 48MPH and that should drop that down too. Opinions? Am I full of it thinking this?

your trans man is feeding you a bunch of BS...the 4L60 and the 700 and the same thing. so go swap the springs and get it back to where you want it

Run away from that moron.

Find someone with a real deal Syty governor, as I hear they are hard to find. Going through the governor to get stock like shifts may be difficult.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the info! I'm ok with the shift quality. Just the shift RPM is to high.

The more things I find out about this guy the more I realize he is a BS'er. I figured out he put 40 miles on my Ty and used a 1/4 tank of gas. This tank my mileage went from 16-17 down to 13. So, I put on 160 miles at 16-17 and he did the rest. So, that 40 miles he ran must of been with his foot on the floor the whole time  To top it all off the trans was a good 1.5 to 2 quarts overfilled. I drained it to the proper level and now it slips. I'm pulling the pan tonight to see what's up there. Hopefully the pick up is just laying in the pan loose. I'll discuss these things with him after I check it...
