What ever it takes!!
Re: to the @$$hole who sold me my first ty...

Got this PM from Blake:

Stretched throttle cables are common and there have been some pretty good hacks to say the least in trying to fix it.
Disconnect the throttle cable completely to take it out of the equasion. Now rotate the throttle to WOT by hand. See if it clicks out anymore. What was happening is that the TV cable was NOTpreventing it from going out any further, as it will just ratchet out more. Again, the TV cable won't PREVENT it from going out further, it will just ratchet out more It's shifting really hard now because the cable is still too tight. The little ridges are just plastic. Instead of trying to let it adjust on it's own, push in the little D button and pull it out toward the passenger side about an 1/8" and try it again until it shifts right.
It is NOT unusual for Datamaster to see WOT of less than 100% when the throttle is wide open. You have to visually verify where it's at at the throttle linkage. If you do this and it's still shifting hard and late, adjust it out another 1/8". If you keep adjusting it out and it keeps shifting hard and late, the TV valve in the valvebody is now stuck.

Thanks George!

Dude I feel your pain, I bought my Ty off of Ebay around the first of September of this year from a real piece of shit in Clarksburg Maryland named Robert Miller. Before buying the truck the guys was really nice and we had several conversations about the TY prior to the sell. On the Ebay add he did(in his defense) take pics showing the minor scratches and dings and and listed that the vehicle was not running due to the fuel pump coming on when it wants to but would most probably have to be towed for that reason...and thats when the B.S. started So I hired a Semi to go pick it up from his house on 3 different occasions and the guy wasnt there but on the 4th trip he decided to stay home and wait for the truck driver. The driver of the trucking company called me after leaving his house and starting bitching to me about what an ass the guy was because he didnt want to help in any way with loading it up and that wasnt part of the deal. So about 3 days later my TY shows up in Louisiana where I live at my house and the charges had went up from $2,300 to $2,600 due to the previous owner not being there. Well to make a short story long here when i got into the truck the fuel pump was bad like he said and the gas tank had a 4" hole in the top of the tank from corrosion, all the fuel lines were rotten, and it had a spun main bearing......
Now my first mistake was buying it sight unseen and that was my fault (that will never happen again)!
and after about 4k invested into I have a vehicle that I have always wanted.and im never gonna get rid of it!

P.S. when the truck left his house he never answered a phone call from me again....P.O.S.!

I feel your pain. Ive owned mine for about 8 years, it sat for almost 6 of those. I bought mine in LA at a luxury dealer. I paid 10,500 for it. (back before the economy/hsg market went south that was a deal) It ran ok, but had a miss, the miss turned out to be #3 and #5 cylinders at 30 psi compression. However it had lots of money spent on a aftermarket turbo set up, brakes etc. Body super clean, zero rust. Rebuilt the engine, that one made it 50 miles, thus started my crash course on turbo vehicles. Found stock fuel systems would not support bigger turbos explaining why #3,#5 pistons now had hoes in the top of them. $7,000 later (including paying too much for fuel system parts - thanks g-factor in las vegas) i have a nice motor, correct fuel system, an intercooler that almost works should be finished this week , I still need to buy the datamaster and ecm stuff to make it run perfect. But However I own TY0833. I will never be done as most members here wont. Its always 1,000 bucks away from being completely finished. I dont know of any other suv's that can run with a vette at half throttle. It is not for sale and probably never will be. I drive it almost daily now. I love it, My wife hates the fact i love it. So dont worry man you have a good baseline to start with. If i had nothing but money i would have bought an all original one with no miles, but would never drive it. So get your truck done and drive it. Good Luck

I feel somewhat vindicated now. I felt like I was the only one who was duped into buying a "perfect running example of GM history" that turned out to be a POS. This thread is old so I am hoping that the OP has his truck up and running. I researched a lot before I bought mine but after spending years telling my friends not to buy vehicles that they "fell in love with" I go and impulse buy mine. Oh well, there are plenty of guys who don't even have a Typhoon to be pissed off at.

Haven't you guys figured it out yet?

THEY ARE ALL POS's!!!

I am starting to see the pattern. They are all crappy no matter what.
