to relocate or not to relocate

I have read a few threads on relocating the knock sensor. Still dont know if its a good idea or not. Input please. does it help at all???

I think if you are one of those cases that has false knock, then I would relocate it.

I relocated mine, it just delayed my KR by about 1/2 sec...

I put mine on the front left hand side of hte motor. Right in the cylinder head. I like it there alot. Even if youdont have a false knock issue, itll be nice when it goes bad and you have to kill yourself trying to get it out.

I think someone around here had a special tool that aided the removal the knock sensor. It was called a Slim Jenny if I recollect.

I say relocate it for future ease of replacement.. plus you can do a detailed write up as you do it so I can do it later on

should not be that hard. it only has one wire connected to it. I am going to take the wireing for the abs out too. Dont need all that crap in there anymore. Just want a good place to put the sensor so it works better. I was showing knock sometimes. even with 100 oct and alky. But my trans was slipping. so I am not sure what the cause was. Now while the engine is out I want to do as much as I can. This summer I hope to drive the truck a lot. I hope

The knock filter is calibrated for a given location... the stock location.

Out of dozens of people who thought they had a false knock issue, I've actually only seen 2 that really did.

By moving it, all you're doing is desensitizing it... sorta like putting cotton in your ears, or turning up the radio so you don't hear the noise.

It's your motor, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
