heh my truck's for sale. ive perpetually been in positions where i cant quite do it. 1st lack of money, now, lack of place to work on it. excuses, excuses, excuses. i work on benz's for a living and i still HATE working on these trucks. haha. that could be part of the problem though, i work on cars all day, i dont wanna do it for another 4 hours after work for free...not that i can anymore anyway...but i digress. if you have a garage and a decent set of tools and really dont mind getting dirty, these trucks are for you. i had that when i got it but now i dont and im living proof that you NEED a place to work on these trucks YOURSELF otherwise, its pretty much impossible to own.

well, maybe it still is worth it, just not financially sound

not that owning these trucks is a sound decision anyway

blah. someone buy my truck...or maybe i'll keep it...ahh! i dont know!

QUICK STORM

bought #0887 3weeks ago. spent over $1000 on it to get it to run correctly, do all the maintenance myself with my dad at his shop. now someone rearended me and i need to fix that.

it has 34K miles and got it for $13.2K

but so far what has happened, i still love my truck and i wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. no one can discourage me from wanting/keeping a sy/ty.

thanks to everyone on this board for all their input/help/tricks/wisdom which makes these vehicles so much more fun to drive. all the "what the heck is that?" looks makes it a joy to drive this truck around town as my daily driver(200miles a week).

I've always loved these trucks and been to my first gathering this year. I came on here when I was 23 (I'm 27 now), and I STILL don't have one. It's not that I am picky, just with my money situation I'll probably never own one, let alone ride in one. I will say that I am glad to have came here and I have leared a hell of a lot, just not as much as OWNING one.

i bought my sy for $8700. the motor is in great condition even though it has 103,000. im going to do the basic matianence stuff. but the truck ran fine when driving it from San Antonio to Dallas. 5hr drive. I know the trucks are going to run expensive in fixing problems but thats ok for me. :D

You have to keep in mind that most of the new buyers come to this site and read it like some kind of holy grail? I have to admit after reading all of the kill stories, enthusiasm, and passion that goes into these trucks I had to have one. Spending 16,000 euro on a 34k mile 13+year old truck seemed like a holy quest.

Now to come back to the real world, I realize that there is no such thing as fast, cheap and reliable. Don’t base buying a syty from what you read or hear. Base it on what your life can handle. It’s different for everyone. Just because you can afford one now does not mean that you can afford the upkeep later on down the road.

As for me I am a speed junky and for many others we all need to go faster. Let me know if I am off base here but most of the time these trucks tend to lead to the snowballing effect. Happy with the speed and then bam $$$$$$$ faster, faster.

Like I said before it’s the enthusiasm and passion that fellow syty owners have for their trucks that make them so captivating. But as for preaching to the quire no madder how many times my TY lets me down “breaks” or I think about getting rid of her, I just go out and boost launch the shit out of her and that experience for me pays for itself.

That's why you let the syty just sit in the garage most of the year.

The reason I have not sold mine is because I don't want my poor investment to actually come to life. Might as well keep it since it's paid off. Its the start of my "collection"... :)

EDIT: Come to think about it, the people I have met through these trucks has made it worth every penny! Who DOESN'T look forward to the Nats?

When does a Sy/Ty actually become a bad investment :rotf: To all future buyers, just go buy one and enjoy the hell out of it. I enjoy looking at mine sit everyday

Finally getting ready to enjoy my Sy. Bought it when I turned 18, figured a 20K mile truck would last me 8-10 years without touching it HAHAHAHA joke was on me.

Now that Im a few months from 25 I finally can afford to make the beast into what it should be. The sad part is that its been lifeless for over two years now, and before that it sat idle about 10 months out of the year. Bad investment, hell yeah, but nothing looks cooler or meaner than a Sy imo.
