Timming issues

Timming the distributor. when i use the timming light and line up the marks on the crank and idicator the truck is idle at like 2,000 rpm witch i dont understand???

You did disconnect the "tan wire with the black strip" under the dash correct?

try resetting the ecm by disconnecting the battery for a minute of pulling the ecmb fuse, and see if it helps

That comment has been on here for years. Technically I have no idea if that's necessary. However I have not seen any difference, and, I was told by a GM tech that what it (removing the fuse) -does- do is cause the IAC to have to re-learn. This, of course, may or may not be a good thing in this case. So I'm as confused as ever.

Setting the timing as instructed and having no vac leaks seams to make the most difference IMHO.
