Time to move on.

Just letting all the FAST crew know that I'll be moving the middle of this month. We've decided it was time to do something different with our lives and a great opportunity came up that we realized we couldn't pass up. There are still some things to work out with the buyer of our current house, but we aren't going to let that hold us up as we need to start moving forward with our plan.

We will be moving from Winter Springs to Rotonda West (south of Sarasota). I am currently in negotiations with my current employer to work from home on a contract basis for the time being, and we'll see how that goes. My wife will be working with a local custom home builder in the area doing interior design and basically running the business side of things while her brother is in control of the general contractor side of it.

It's going to be a big change for us, but we're really excited about it. It's one of those things where the rewards can be huge if you put enough effort into it and that's what we're going to do. So, I'll keep everybody updated once we get into our new house.

The main thing I'm going to miss is the size of the garage we have now. It's still a 2 car at the new place, but I lose about 5 feet of depth on it and 2 feet of width. It'll be interesting to see if I can cram all the crap I have now into the new place.

You're way to young to be moving to Sarasota.

All of the northern retirees are going to need someone to build them houses. That's what we're counting on.

Re: Time to move on.

Being close to the beaches is one of the benefits of moving down there. That whole town shuts down at night. I drove 20 minutes at 10pm and saw about 10 cars.

Today's the day. Just about everything packed, pick up the UHaul and trailer at 11 this morning, moving guys are coming at 11:30. Gonna be one sore weekend I can tell you that. Now I have to figure out how to fit 10 lbs of "stuff" from our current garage into the new 5lber.

Congrats on the move. When I think about all the stuff I would have to deal with I figure my next move will be into a pine box.

Re: Time to move on.

Everything is in the house, but there's still some unpacking and organizing to do. Half the garage has a Syclone in it, the other half has furniture that won't fit in the house. I should be getting the 50" cub cadet soon so I can mow the back 40 in less than a week.

There's still a lot of organizing that needs to be done, but not a lot of time to do it. I pretty much have one day a week to get anything done and that typically ends up being family day, so not a lot gets accomplished. We really only had one weekend to get stuff done, so anybody who's moved knows that there are things you're doing for the next few years.

Hopefully I can get the rest of the stuff unpacked and organized before we move again...
