Throttle Body

Is it possible to space out the throttle linkage bracket on the shaft of the throttle body out away from the throttle body?

I'm talking like 1/2" to 1" at most...

I don't have a stock tb handy to check this out. thanks.

I don't think the bracket and the butter fly bar come apart. You'd have to remove it, cut it and then weld in a "filler bar" to extend it out more. That answer your question?

Re: Throttle Body

I'm pretty sure the throttle linkage is welded to the throttle shaft. The bracket for the cruise/TV cable is a bolt on and could be spaced out a bit.

Re: Throttle Body

Could be a spot weld type of deal that they did from the factory. Because its one solid part. (The linkage bracket, and the butter fly bar this is.) There is a clip/pin on the other side of the bar that holds on the TPS trigger deal, take that off, and the butter fly screws that hold them onto the bar, unclip the return spring(or twist it to unbind it) and the whole thing should slide out. (This is from memory..)

I don't see it being bolted onto the butter fly bar because if you screwed it up, or stripped out that bolt, the TPS would read off. So I'm pretty sure it was spot welded, or made as one solid part.

The TB bracket isn't welded. I am not quite sure what the terminalogy for it is, peened. I you gind off the end the backet will pop off. Some of the places that bore out the TB on Corvette, grind that off to pull the bracket off. To reattach they drill a hole and use a small screw and washer keep the bracket attach.

sounds like a pain and not something i'd want to extend out at all.

thanks for the input everyone.

Re: Throttle Body

Yes the part that is far out does come off looks liek the bolt 4 and 5 are just that bolts and some washers.

where the actual throttle cable goes looks like the end of that shaft it is stamped to hold the bracket on. you sould extend it would be a big pain and I think it would really bad for the TB shaft and bushings in the long run.

I dont remeber 100% but I think the RPM TB the linkage is bolted on If that helps any

edit if you need any other info I have a stock TB sitting on the shelf

Re: Throttle Body

Here's a pic of mine when I was cleaning it up a few years ago:

Yep, the butterfly shaft is peened in place so there is no *easy* way to remove it. That's why I cleaned mine up without taking it apart...
