These truck will make you a mechanic

If you own one long enough.

I finally had time to fix my oil gauge issues. The new oil pressure switch that I installed after the rebuild was no good. The replacement one did the trick. This was after flipping the gauges needle back in place and removing lots of stuff so it could be replaced.

After I get everything back together. I fired the truck up and it ran for a few seconds and died. Of course it would not restart.

After some checking I found the fuse blown for the fuel pump. During the oil pressure switch replacement. The fuel line was removed from the fuel rail and moved over to gain access. And after reconnecting the fuel line. I ran the fuel pump to check for leaks(learned this lesson the hard way). Must have blown the fuse during this operation.

Truck fired right up with a new fuse. I let the truck get warm enough for the electric fan to kick on. I checked under the hood just to make sure everything was fine. Then I noticed only one of the electric fans working. I shut the truck off and went in the house.

some dual fan setups work off of a 2 stage controller, where the first fan turns on at X temperature, and the second turns on at Y temperature. The truck might not have been hot enough to turn the second fan on.

I would also try to figure out exactly what caused the fuse to blow so it doesn't happen again.

Re: These truck will make you a mechanic

Yesterday I pulled mine out of the garage while I was cleaning up and it was idling in the driveway...Stalled out and thew up a check engine light.
Restarted her and didn't have any issues.
Jumped in and headed down to the gas station to get a paper.
Came back out, went to start her. Wouldn't turn over. Just crank crank crank crank.
Kept fighting with her. Pumping the gas pedal. PUTT PUTT PUTT PUTT PUTT....Sitting there thinking "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? AM I GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE THIS THING TOWED 1/4 MILE BACK TO MY HOUSE AGAIN!?!?!?!".
Kept fighting with her and eventually got her to fire up.
Drove her home, backed her into the garage, turned her off, got out, kicked the tire and went inside.
