Theives nabbed my stereo and laptop, when will it end?

What a run of bad luck I've had since I've had this truck. It's still so much fun I can't imagine selling it but it's costing me so much I keep wondering how I'll keep it.

I recently lost the remote to my truck that operates the keyless entry and alarm. I've been meaning to get one of them off of ebay (that's what I've seen recommended here I think) but hadn't gotten around to it so my truck has been locked the past week but the alarm hasn't been armed. I went out to my truck yesterday to find my stereo and laptop stolen (from right outside my front door) and better yet they used a screwdriver and a hammer to punch the lock out. First they tried the drivers side door, then gave up and went to the passenger side before getting in so I know have holes punched in both doors. Wonder what that'll cost me to fix? They damaged the area around the stereo removing it as well. Even took the $60 I kept in the glove box for a rainy day.

Guess it wasn't as bad as it could have been, they didn't seem to understand the value of anything besides the laptop and stereo so they left the Accell DFI I had behind the seat, the Valentine V1 radar detector, my Greddy boost controller and Innovate LM-1 wideband controller.

I'll have to get in touch with my insurance company and see if they'll re-imburse me for the laptop and stereo or only cover the damage to the doors.

I don't even want to replace the stereo until I get a new remote and a garage for it or the assholes will just come back next week and steal that one too.

TYRODD

My ass. Look at it.
Wait inside with a bazooka

That sucks man. Like you said though...there were a lot more valuable things inside, not to mention the whole truck. In my small town, theft isnt a big issue...but I still worry about my alarmless truck all the time :-? .
Hopefully you'll get re-imbursed for your losses....although I dont see that happening :-? Good luck!

yup, if you knowingly install a deterrent device that causes injury you will be held liable for the thieves injuries.
Not too mention he will likely skate the "vandalizing" charge he would have gotten for breaking your window while you get prosecuted for assault with intent to injure.

I'm not saying I wouldn't cut the fingers off of someone trying to steal my ride either, just realize your actions may have consequences.

There are a few lawyers here whom I wouldn't put past them doing sh*t like this! People like this need to be exterminated :2gun: :2gun: :2gun: Sorry to hear man. I would DIE to catch someone doing that to my ride(s) At least you got insurance...

Dang dude, that sucks your stuff got jacked and the locks got f'ed with. At least they didn't take your truck.

Hey Jeff, I'm going to thwart your traps. Your daily driver is mine!

laptop will most likely be covered by renters or home owners insurance.

Stereo will probably be covered as long as you're not covered by "uncle jims gas stop and car insurance".

I was three for three with cars being vandalized up in Anchorage when I was stationed there. F-ing thieves will burn in hell.

Anchorage has gotten really bad lately. There have been several incidents within the past 6 months in a movie theater parking lot, but nothing has been done about it.

you could shave the keyholes, put gauges where the stereo goes (like i did), and don't let the truck out of your sight!!! damn, i hate to hear about that shit happening....check with x-10 or ebay to see about getting a cheap camera system that records....that way you can at least see who the hell did it....the footage is valid in court you know....

I've always wondered about vehicles with the locks shaved. How do you get in if your remote/battery fails? Is there a switch somewhere to manually unlock the doors and if so can the thieves find it? I'm not sure I want to trust my lock solenoids, mine are iffy as it is, half the time I lock or unlock my truck one or both of the locks only move halfway, not really locking/unlocking the doors as they are supposed to.

That completely sucks. I have an entire stereo system that I had in my Typhoon, so if you're looking to repair/upgrade let me know.

yea, my passenger side does the same thing....should have replaced them when i did window motors the other day....as far as shaving the lock holes, i just thought it might throw the theives for a loop and buy you a little more time...also, if they f'd up the key holes, it would be a great time to shave them if they need work anyway....theives around here are kinda weird...i had a friend tell me that they busted out a window to steal an inspection sticker from a semi truck of his....damn theives will walk right past a $1000.00 item to steal a $10.00 item :-? go figure....i'll check with a friend of mine to see what he installs to get around a remote failure....

SyTyless......for now!
you Wisconsin guys will know what I'm talking about, i would never in a million years leave a Syty or any rare vehicle parked in Milwaukee unless i could keep an eye on it. Milwaukee is horrible for thefts, and the odds of being killed are up there too. i remember a case where a woman was shot and killed in an alley for $10. one of my friends was held up on his way to school and they jacked his lunch money and almost shot him. as for the anti-theft system, install an alarm system with a built in flame thrower like the one shown in europe a few years ago! or try the shinwhacker technique, a spring loaded metal bar below the rockers that deploys and effectively disables the thug, unless they have shingurads on. good luck with the stereo and computer, as well as the knobs at the insurance agency

For shaved handles, you can install a mechanical release in whatever location you want. My mechanical pull was installed behind a lockable panel in my front fender on the 96 GMC.

Some people install their shaved handle kits on a seperate battery.

Some tracks don't allow shaved handles; I don't really know the details or specifics on that one though.

i hear lawyers love that sort of stuff.

I love that stuff too! F*ck em, I'd rather see the mofo dead laying next to my truck in the morning.

I'd be like, PLEASE GOD LET THIS MAKE THE NEWS!!!

Well wait a minute...hmm...I live in WA. and with all the bleading heart libs here, they'd side with the crook. I'd be told I violated his civil rights when he broke the law.

I guess I would have to have a reverse sticky on the inside of all my windows (small fine print of course) saying...

By choosing to break the law and attempting to steal my possesions, you will give up all rights in trying to sue me when I attempt to kill you! If you do not agree to these terms then don't attempt to vandalize/steal my possesions.

Should pass for a binding agreement.

Honestly, not a bad idea. But you'd undoubtedly get a crook who can't read English, and of course, it would be your fault.

Sucks to hear man. My s10 was just broken into this week as well. Tach, cd player, spearkers are gone. And they did a nice job of bustin up my daskboad and glass while they were at it. And I just moved here three weeks ago.

About a 1.5 years ago, when I still lived in milwaukee, my ty was broken into to. Back Window, stero, etc. It seems like you can not own anything nice anymore without anyone breakin in it.
