Went over to a local carpet store with the wife the other day to pick out a color. Outside the shop was a big, green Buick Electra 225 convertible. I remember seeing the car in our local show. Go in to the store (family owned business) and they have '50's memorbilia all over the store as well as lots of car stuff.
I had to get to work so I didn't get into a conversation about cars with the guy, but he sent his son (about 35 years old) to our house later that day to measure the room. It's the family room where on the wall I have a framed version of the GMHTP pages, a large portrait of Al Holbert and his Porsche 962 (RIP), as well as a B&W photo of my dad racing an MG on a dirt track in the early 60's. (RIP)
Anyway, the guy flips out (I'm not there) and learns about my "history" with cars (Buicks, especially)...and my wife shows him the Typhoon in the garage. Amazed to see a green one.
Starts crunching numbers on the carpet and takes a "little" off as a fellow car-lover discount.
