Re: TH400 Swap - Whats needed?

Rossler makes this for $295 that makes an 80e full manual shift yet can be put to full auto later.

Lots of options, everybody has to make their own decision on what works best for them.

That's sweet!!!

And dont forget Baumann Electronic Controls 4l80e controller

Interesting. That transmission is a 4L60e, not an 80, but the controller probably doesn't know the difference.

How does it control line-pressure? I know there is a vacuum modulator mod available for the 60, so it's probably available for an 80 as well, but these won't work on a boosted application. What does one do, run full line pressure at all times? Yowzer-busted-parts, Batman.

I suspect one of the wires there is TPS. Relatively minor electronics to convert a rising voltage to a %DC for
line pressure control. It would behave something like a TV cable that way.

Junkyard harness and Pickup ECM would be the way to go on the cheap, IMO. You can even find def files to program the ECM to your shift liking.

I would think that controllers 3 wires are for tps , power , and rpms .

Re: TH400 Swap - Whats needed?

That's why I'm doing a TH400 in the basket case Sy. Cheap and holds great power with simple parts. It absorbes more power than the 350TH but I'll add a lb of boost for the duribility of the 400.
3:25-3:08 would be a good gear for a engine that makes 11sec. potential. Then what do you really need a OD for?

Just my Theory.
