Test and Tune tonight

Well, I'm back from Mid-Michigan Motorplex (Stanton). I am tired, so I will fill more in tomorrow morning, along with videos.

It was a windy day...kinda overcast and temps in the low-to-mid 70's. I drove 1.5 hours there and didnt really give the Ty time to cool off much. I drove through tech, got my number, and went right up.

The first pass, I just left my street tune in it. I aired my little 225-60/16 pie cutters down to 22# front and 23# rear. I put on my helmet, left it in D, and left on 3# of boost. I let off before the 1000' mark because it felt real good - like too fast. I come around for the slip...

60' 1.874
1/8 7.428
MPH 97.50
1/4 11.705
MPH 103.19

The tech guy didnt say shit, so I came right back around, looked over my logfile, made a couple fueling tweaks, and got back in line. This time I left at 5#...

60' 1.673
1/8 7.013
MPH 100.78
1/4 10.915
MPH 126.63

Truck felt awesome! I also left in D on that pass. Trans was shifting at 5400. I thought I heard a little squak from the tires, so I went back, analysed the logfiles, and made a few more passes to try and better the 60'. It just seems that I am about at the limits of these little shitty Firestone's!

My best 1/8 MPH was a 102.7 (1.896 60') and my best 1/4 MPH was 127.40 (1.813 60'). The headwinds were there all night...must have been about 10-12 MPH, so I feel there's quite a bit left to go. If I can get some traction and leave at something higher than 5-6# of boost, I feel that I have a solid mid-10 pass in it.

More to come tomorrow - including my Cobra destruction video!

Re: Test and Tune tonight

Something is def. goofy here, I call BS. LOL

Seriously your 60ft isn't terrible, yet your MPH isn't really matching the ET. With me running an 11.2 I was getting 118ish MPH, your 10mph faster and only .2 seconds.

is the truck getting out of the hole OK, then blowing the tires off for a bit? Your 1/8th mile MPH is on par for the 1/4 et. But your picking up a lot of speed on the 2nd half of the track.

I better practice my RT because your going to fly by me like I am standing still. Your not sandbagging on me are you? You must have been talking to Tom Joy.

Re: Test and Tune tonight

Thanks guys!

No Jeff...no sandbagging here. I fought traction issues all night. I tried leaving with more boost but would just shook either right out of the hole or 100' out. I am converting the videos now, so you'll hear/see once they're up (if the camera guy's worth a shit).

All the passes (except the first two) were around 21-22# through 5krpm in third gear. At that point, the load was higher and the boost started creeping slowly. I upped it to 23-24# and by the end of the track (last 300') it would creep to 27-28#

Again...I am on some shitty pie-cutter tires. If I was able to plant the truck, it would have a solid mid-10 sec pass in it (like AutoAddictions) - our MPH's are very similar. I just wish I could leave on more power (and with a 2-step and line locks and a trans brake)...

Re: Test and Tune tonight

2 step and line lock (assuming you have good brakes) is all you need.

I have never hooked up the transbrake yet, don't really need to. I can show you next weekend.

Compilation of all my passes...explanaitons:

#1 was the first pass off the street. I let off before the 1000' mark
#2 was a full pull
#3 was against the Cobra, leaving on about 2-3# boost
#4 I was trying to shift manually, and I forgot to shift (hit the rev limiter - DOH!)
#5 I was leaving on 5# with a little more timing down low to build boost faster

Awesome video and great run. I am quietly on a quest to get my Sy into the 10's (and I am right at the doorstep). To do it in a streetable Ty is impressive!!
