TCC lockup

Make sure I have this right before I do this. I hopefully will be at the track next week (pray for no rain) and I want to do a TCC lockup switch. Its F to A. A is ground correct?? so if I use a lighted switch and keep a constant 12v to the switch when the switch is turned on it will ground and light up? Thats how I see it. When I race should I turn it on at the begining? it wont lock till after 2nd?? Thanks

X 2 the wiring on this always messed me up, does anyone have a pic or diagram for non electrical people?

Gary from what i've read you want it on before you race and it will lockup 2nd for you, then shut it off as soon as your done.

this is a manual lockup switch, if i'm correct you are overriding the ecm command, then you should lock it when shifting into second, manually.

Ok can anyone shed some light as to what locking up the converter does? I thought when they lock up they are moving at the same speed hence best gas milage. But when do u use a manual lock up in 1/4 racing and would u want to use a manual lockup on the highway for better gasmilage?

Not in the sence we are referring to. I can't remember the specifics, I'm sure one of the tranny guys can fill us in for the umpteen thousand time, I'm not even gonna try to make up something. Far as I understand second gear stays unlocked so you are over riding it and making it lockup which in turn nets you a extra .1-.2 and a couple mph in the quarter. No you don't want to drive around like this all the time, no because it is harder on the tranny, again dunno why.

Locking it up can help by about .1 seconds or so.

You can lock it up stopped, it won't activate until 2nd gear anyways. Just be ready to unlock it before you come to a stop.

Less slip, less power being wasted.

It's as close as we can get to powershifting. It will definately cause the already hard shifts to become downright violent (more of a kick than a shift), and the truck will behave as though it has a manual (more pronounced deceleration when coasting).

Shit, my truck shifts like a monster as it is. If I have 1/2 alky it makes the red light go on when it shifts. I did the TV cable and even added a click past that. SO it locks up after 2nd but does not unlock untill I release the switch?
