Tc info needed

So after all the help trying to figure out what was wrong with my sy, it turns out that the transfer case is locked up and in need of rebuild or replace. The problem that I am having now is that every shop is telling me that there is a possibility of three different tc's that could have come on my sy. I've even called the dealer and had them run the vin.

So here is where I need the help. The tc that is currently on the truck appears to have wrecking yard numbers on it, so almost sure that it is not the original. Should I just have that one rebuilt or should I buy one out of a wrecked sy that has been sitting for a while that has 76k on it? I just don't know what the differences are between the three tc's and I don't wanna throw money away at rebuilding the one currently installed if it is the incorrect tc.

Any help appreciated.

What is the cost difference between the one in the wrecked Sy, and having yours rebuilt? A new, aftermarket unit is also a option. Maybe the best option, depending on the cost of the other two.

The used one is about 300, I have pics and it appears to be in good shaped, from the outside. I haven't received a solid estimate on the rebuild because they keep telling me that there are three different ones.

How much should I be looking at for the ones mentioned above???

300 for a used stocker ???????????????????/


you can get a new corvette one from autozone for 150 IIRC its a little higher than stock stall

If your truck is stock, and you are just looking for a stock replacement, I would get the one that wampancakes has. I mean, it has less then 5K miles on it...it's pretty much brand new anyways. PM him about a price.

Search for the "L35 blazer TC" and use that part #. That one has the highest stock stall and will be good for the truck.

Uh, maybe I should have used my brain and said transfer case instead of tc since that could have meant torque converter. Sorry for the confusion. I am referring to my trucks transfer case being locked up(viscous coupler).

ok that changes things 300 for a local pickup transfer case isnt bad

Ended up driving 2 hours and picked up the transfer case from the guy with a wrecked sy. Did the vc torque test and seemed good, so we shall see. Thanks again for everyone's help. This is the best forum for help that I've ever dealt with.
