Take the good with the bad...

After cruising around with a buddy of mine the other night we finally get off the main roads and hit a stoplight with a huge straightaway. He knew I've wanted to race his new WRX since he got it but the chance has never really come to seriously open it up. So in my hurry to build boost I bypass the nuetral/revving/brake goes down farther thing and start to pump it up. I'm watching to other light to time everything and just as it turns yellow my breaks let loose. I scoot forward and let off the gas. Light goes green. From no boost we were completely neck and neck to 60 them we both backed off. Not bad from my 107k stock Ty which needs some tuning. I was especially happy when he chirped hard going into second and I stayed with him.

Just about an hour ago I was cruising with a couple of my Gran-National guys.. From a 20mph roll we ran together to about 40ish then I got SMOKED. He pulled away fast. It's pretty much stock but he just threw on a new atr exhaust and a few other minor things along with a crapload of tuning. I was impressed.

Then we went to Red Lobster and he bought me a beer and some cheesy biscuits cuz I got beat so bad. They've got the best damn cheesy biscuits..

Nice. About that WRX. Is the STi version (280 HP) avaiable in the US? Or that was just the 218HP one?

US version is 227hp. I thought the STI version was supposed to be available for 2003, but Subaru may have pushed back the availability date to 2004. Not really sure.

I belive SOA is still planing on brining out the STi in early 03, beacuse they need somthing to compeet with the Mitsu Lancer EVO 7 when it comes out.

stock for stock, any decent running syty should own a wrx. friends dad has one with a downpipe & exhaust,, its fast but not a syty killer.

The STi could give more challenge to a stock SyTy. A stock Sy still should be able to handle it though. They just launched a few special editions here, like the STi 320. Yes it's 320 HP. Have not seen any from this one yet.

The WRX will get slammed next spring after I sell my kids and drop some cash on the Ty. With a good launch I think I could have had him. Just riding in it 2nd gear feels really fast. Fun little car...

I've heard the EVO thingy will carry a price tag of like mid 30's...shit.

Mitsu quoted it for under 30, but who knows. If only we got the JDM version, 330 hp, a huge FMIC, and high 12's stock, for under 30k.

Is the EVO the Lancer?? I've been hearing EVO this, EVO that, but haven't a clue what it looks like..

Here this will help http://evolutionm.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6595 the evo is about as much lancer as a syclone would be compared to a normal s-10, the have alot in common but you realy can't put them in the same class beacuse there so differnt. Rumor has it that the us evo will be dutuned, and suck balls compared to the jdm evo(beacuse it has to run on 91 octane, and use a side mount i/c instead of a fmic, there slated to have only 250 hp stock in us trim).
