Re: Tail lights - amber turn signals

i totally forgot about taking a picture last night. i bought mine from warmpancakes a few years ago, and have had a few other pairs since, but they've been discontinued since around 2000 i think. however, they pop up on here, ebay and s10 forum from time to time.

i'd sure like to find a picture of the t90 rpo tail lights.

edit: found some!

Re: Tail lights - amber turn signals

OK, so I had a thought. What about using dual LEDs for the turn/reverse lights in the clear lenses?

I found these:

What would I need to do? I am wondering if the reverse circuit could power up the whites and the turn circuit would work on the amber - I guess I would need to get a bulb holder that would fit the lights and then wire the two circuits up to do it. It is a 3157 connection which doesn't look like it works with our trucks.

Edit - I just found some 1157 bulbs which I think are standard for us - everyone is suggesting they be used as front running light/turn signal but a really bright one would work as a reverse light I would imagine.

hi power 1157 LED

Has anyone got any input on this idea?

The turn signal on the truck...

So I need a socket that fits the bottom picture but has connections for three wires. Does anyone know if the front lamp will fit the rear housing?

So I ordered the PARK/LAMP socket (12013813) and the Hi Power switchback bulb from JDMPOWER on :ebay:

If only there was a way to do something similar with the fog light...

Update - I have tested the bulbs and they are BRIGHT! Both amber and white are very powerful and I think they will do the job fine.

I need the fittings before I can connect them to the truck but I think I can wave goodbye to the underside reverse light! The fittings have been ordered and will be here in a few days.

Standby!

Now to solve the fog light conundrum...

The park/indicator lamp from the front fits fine. The only snag was wiring in the LEDs the wrong way (series instead of parallel - :banghead:)

Now... how do I get rid of the bloody rear fog lamp.

The lights are really impressive now. Very pleased I did this! Hope this helps someone!
