No date code on the plate carrier. I don't believe that it is made of Kevlar, but it is a high density woven material.

I don't have access to any plates that aren't commercially available. Regardless, some of the hard plates that can be bought online are impressive. Do a little searching, you can find hard plates that stop multiple AK hits.
