T63, T66, T67? Which one for me?

Re: T63, T66, T67? Which one for me?

The 63E is nearly identical to the 66 or 45a....

a 67 with GTQ is a much bigger turbo if you're running stock heads/cam.

I've used the 63E and 67GTQ on a bone stock engine, and the 67 requires alot more convertor. I think the 63E with a 9/11 spools up great, but might be a tad small unless you're looking to run 28+psi.

Is the T66 a T4 flange? I have a t3/t4 hybrid so would this bolt right in?

So would a T72 be to large? Thats the one that was recomended for my application.

with stock heads its like it blows air on a wall . ITS THE COMBINATION you will use.
For stock engine a 60-1 or a 63 is fine

What about if you have L35 heads and a 3500 9/11 stall waiting to go in? What turbo then?

Is the GTQ or GTS better than the T series turbos for spool and what not?

GTQ pertains to the size of the exhaust turbine

You will need a 72 and ~ 25psi to make 550 to the wheels.

Heh this is me from the email. No offense I'm just researching before I spend big bux!

btw the setup is 96+ heads fully worked over ported, polished, and bigger valves. The cam is the 270AHR which i beleive you guys call the: 09-422-8 The intake manifold is a the edelbrock performer thats been machined to accept injectors. Right now it's got baby 26lb/hrs but it will get bigger ones s00n!

Thanks for the help guys.

I don't think a lot of us dyno our trucks, but I do know of a 72 that dynoed 580rwhp. I think Turbo Tony truck with a 72 did similar numbers.

So with the proper supporting cast do you think that a 72 could make 600hp with methanol injection? I've seen guys go from race gas tuned to meth inj and retune and gain anywhere from 30-50hp so it's possible that 600hp could be achieved w/a 72 unless that 580 you talk about is w/methanol.

I think the only case you could make more power with pump gas and methanol injection is if you didnt have an intercooler or your intercooler is just pathetic. As many of you know, Tony's truck was messed with on the dyno for a LONG time and lots of hours went in tuning it. PLus he was running (i think) 27-28psi.. SO, all i am trying to say is dont plan to make 550 rwhp on a smaller turbo easily.

Not really related to the original question but is there any power to be gained by running methanol on race gas? I always here of either meth or race gas, but never both.

You could run more boost/timing with both (assuming you're not already maxed out) and it helps spool time ~250rpms or more from what I've heard (haven't had enough tuning with mine yet to know). Additional cooler can be a good thing.

What he said.

your set up is begging for a GT72

I keep coming back to that too. Is the GT72 the same as a T72? There's SO many turbos these days that I guess I'm easily confused.
