t-case torque arm?

Hey all,

Putting my LT1 powered awd conversion back together and am to the point of getting the drivetrain buttoned up. I'm using a bw 4472 t-case and front locked diff. There's a plate that bolts onto the front diff with a small metal "knub" on it and a arm that runs from a bolted position on the t-case to the front diff. Is there some kind of rubber coupling that goes between them?

I purchased this project completely blown apart and am slowly finding all the pieces and getting everything back together.

If anyone has any close up shots or info, I would greatly appreciate it, pretty much in the dark, haven't messed w/ 4x4/awd stuff before so I'm feeling a little ignorant.

Also, is there a seal between the tranny/adapter/t-case?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Re: t-case torque arm?

The transfer case brace bolts to the lower left hole on the bellhousing. There is a gasket for the tranny to transfercase. GM #15642511

You can just see how the brace is oriented here:

As Jimmy said, it gets bolted up to the lower most bottom bellhousing hole on the drivers' side of the truck with a 3/8"x16 bolt that is 4.5 inches in length. With regards to the trafercase to transmission gasket, be sure that you can start ALL the bolts before you button it up. The gasket has an oriention and you won't be able to get the other bolts in their respective holes if its' not indexed correctly.

Re: t-case torque arm?

Thanks all, I appreciate the information. Especially the part numbers and pics, thank you.

Cannot wait to get this truck on the road, but I'm still a long way from it. I hate to post not being a sy/ty but I figured this would be the place to get the exact info I needed. Looks like I'll be pulling out the bfh, that has got to be the absolute WORSE bolt on that whole truck.. well besides the front diff bolt that is inside the frame, that sucked.

When tying everything to the tranny do I need to grease the output shaft on the tranny or anything? didn't look wet and didn't look dry when I inspected it. Tranny was rebuilt before I purchased the project.

The front propshaft has a double cardigan joint, is this normal? if so I'm going to replace the u-joints, keeping everything assembled the same to keep from unbalancing the assembly, just not sure if i'll have problems with it down the road. I purchased a service manual for the motor/tranny I'm using but not sure what to get for the drivetrain, I know haynes and chiltons are good for keeping tables steady, probably impossible to find a helms for a ty, so if I were to look, what other vehicles had this drivetrain?

Does anyone know what the plate bolted to the front differential goes to? sits over top the input shaft and looks like a possible rubber bushing or something of the sort goes to it, but there isn't any bracketry on the frame for it. Thought it went to the It uses two case bolts on the diff to mount it and the "knub" faces the t-case. I can get a pic if needed.

Thanks again,

Jeff
