SyTy Exhaust Manifolds on Vortec

From what I have read, the SyTy exhaust manifolds will work
on the late model Vortec motors. Is that an accurate finding?
I'm trying to verify that I could get a SyTy setup for my '99 for
building a turbo setup. Does anyone know of someone who's
actually done this before? I would have some questions. :D

Re: SyTy Exhaust Manifolds on Vortec

i have installed my exhaust manifolds (extra pair i have) on a 1995 vortec from my old astro van. but recently bought a complete TY motor. so i didn't go any further with the vortec motor.

Yes they fit.

Actually I think finding CLEARANCE under the hood is an issue.
It appears that Vortecs have the alternator and overflow reservoir
on the passenger side, I don't think there's room for a turbo w/o a
good amount of reconstruction (which I prefer not to do).

Here's my turbo install on a 98 ext. cab Sonoma. Maybe this will give you an idea on the space available. PEACE>Tony

That's encouraging! All you needed to do was relocate the battery?
Are you running the SyTy manifolds? Is that a stock SyTy turbo?
(Excuse my ignorance if it should be obvious, I'm just learning...)

I'm using custom made headers and a hybrid turbo from the now defunct Innovative Turbos.
Here's a pic of an engine bay using sy/ty manifolds. Just need to move the bat. to the back and use another coolant tank. a/c??. Hope this helps. PEACE>Tony

Will I use SyTy exhaust manifold gaskets? Or my '99 gaskets?
Maybe they're the same and it doesn't really matter? I'm asking
because I don't know if they're mutually exclusive or not...

Syty gasket, um they didn't come with a gasket. In fact most turbo stuff doesn't use gaskets on exhaust.

I checked RockAuto and they have gaskets for both the Syclone
and my '99 S10. Although they're the same part number, so I'm
not sure how to read that (unless they really do use the same?).

So the SyTy manifolds just bolt to the heads w/o gaskets?
It just sounds odd to me, but I guess I can give that a try.

As long as the surface is clean and straight , theyre not necessary .
