I am in the process of having it welded had to get some measurements and then ship it to AZ to the guy that welded all my IC pipes for my 300zx. Just look for a Synapse BOV in the search menu and there will be quite a few listed.

don't mean to highjack here, but i have the tial 50mm and it doesn't sound like the one in the video. mine sounds like someone sneezing. i liked the way it sounded at first but now i just want something different. can i change the spring to change the sound or do i need a totally different bov? to be honest i like the way some of the imports bovs sound. some sound like laser guns.

The spring will ultimately only change when it opens. Stiffer spring and it will not open as much, lighter spring and it will open faster and probably leak. The pitch could change I suppose but you will probably still get the same overall sound.

there is a section on frozenboost.com about myths, install, and quality and i was trying to understand it but was too confusing for me. i understand what you are saying and i was going to try to adjust the screw but it said to watch out for surge, so i backed off. didn't try.

maybe you can tell better than me? my bov fluctuates (like it should, i guess) in idle. maybe it has a small spring already? it goes off as soon as i let off the gas.

Re: Synapse BOV

Ok so I FINALLY got my pipe welded up and was looking at the instruction on how to install this BOV. Need a boost only source. Can I tee the wastegate?

Your best bet is to get something like this. The BOV isn't going to respond well, or at all, coming off other ports on the manifold. And I definitely would not tee it to anything like the wastegate, afpr, ect. I tried using the vac ball port originally and got no BOV response at all.

Re: Synapse BOV

Ok. The reason I asked is this BOV has three ports two for the intake manifold and one for boost signal for vehicals running more than 7 psi.

Re: Synapse BOV

SO I installed mine a few weeks ago and finally going to give a review on it.
First the good:
It does open up at idle. Instead of the engine sucking air through a non spinning turbo, there is a quicker response of the engine to produce exhaust to eventually get the turbo going when the throttle is finally opened up.

The BOV is machined very well with high tolerances.

There are set screws that allow you to rotate the BOV in a full 360 degrees.

The bad:
It opens up at idle, so you are going to have to route an air intake tube or put a filter on it instead.
I guess they sell an anti-stall valve kit that might fix this.....no idea though.

I sheared off the O ring I installed the mounting flange.

As the engine approaches boost, the BOV is still open. There may be a lot of turbo noise as the turbo is now online producing pressure that is now venting via the air filter or intake hose.

The set screw for the discharge pipe adapter is on the inside of the fitting (toward the intake pipes). How the hell are you suppose to get to that unless you want to take off the BOV?
I think the set screws are a little weak for their application. They tend to allow the BOV to move after installed. Might be in fact due to the O ring that I used to replace the sheared one.

I always liked the sound of a BOV venting to scare small kids, animals and that guy in the convertable who refused to move to the slow lane. That is gone now that the vent is going to the intake system.

I used blue RTV just in case the set screws failed or leaked air through the O rings.
JB Weld ROCKS!!!
Anybody who wants some 1.25" black brake duct hose I have plenty left. Shoot me a price.

Re: Synapse BOV

Yeah I liked the sound before the BOV install but at least it isnt going back through the turbo now. It sounds good when you have the hood up but with the hood closed its pretty quite.
