Syclone owner broke down

I:tdown: don't usually ask for much but...... I am in Piedmont SC. We were on our way back from a family function in GA, and the wife's 2003 subaru outback decided to give up the ghost.

So now we are at the super 8 motel off of interstate 85 exit 40. I need to find and replace a engine tomorrow, so I can drive the other 12 hours home to NY. Did I mention that I have my wife, my dog and my 2 year old son Dexter with me.Needless to say the wife is a bit pissed. I would like to see if there is anyway someone in the area could help me out. I need to find a engine and a place to do the work. I do know this is in the wrong section, but I did mention Syclone in the title. Anyway my cell is 315-406-2699.

Please Please Help,
Dameon:tdown:

Re: Syclone owner broke down

im sure someone in the area can help, but have you thought about renting a uhaul or penske truck and tow dolly and just towing it back home and working on it there.

I have and a Uhaul would be around $800. Might have my Cousin drive my truck and trailed down and pick me up. This would not be so much of a problem if the wife, dog and son were at home.

Re: Syclone owner broke down

Do you by chance have AAA Premier coverage? It has a "trip interruption" clause that pays for a rental car, and helps towards getting your shit home.

(Highly recommended for anyone that travels long distances from home regularly. Like me.)

Nope no AAA at all.

Well I am going to try to get some sleep and be up and at it in the morning.

Fairway Subaru, 2323 Laurens Rd (exit 48). Their # is 242-5060, Ask for Barry (service) or Alex (mechanic). My neighbor recently bought a WRX, which spent some time in the shop (after his wife slapped a curb w/ it). If you need to name drop tell them you got their names from Fred Kozic (the guy with the POS white WRX, they'll remember him, lol). They're both good guys, may be able to help you out, or at least point you in the right direction. Hope that helps, wish I could offer more.

Re: Syclone owner broke down

Absolutely brutal...sorry to hear it.

If you're coming through SE PA and there's anything I can do, let me know. We have probably the best (and most honest) Subaru dealership in this area and I'm sure they would help you out (maybe shorten the rental?). We have 3 Subarus in our family and I'm longtime customer.

And just in case you want to replace your outback with another, I'm selling my wife's 2002. It has 85k and an extended (transferrable) warranty to November 2009.

Sorry it wasn't more / better help. I had a feeling that'd be what you ran into, just not aware of any shops around here that would be much help for Subes. Hope the rest of your trek home is uneventful, be safe.

Re: Syclone owner broke down

Sorry dude, pretty far from Charlotte, plus I dont have shit for tools at the house so I couldn't be much help anyway. Plus we arent allowed to work on personal cars at the city garage, but If I was still at the dealer I would say tow it there and we could work as late as needed and your family could crash at my house while we worked. Isnt Waller out in that area?

Re: Syclone owner broke down

Nothing against SC, but F that state. The trailer finally got in today at 11:00am. We just got at 1:30am, I had the gas in th budget rental truck mashed to the floor the entire way. She did dip into the low 80 MPH down hill. Thanks to all that offered to help. Special thanks for Cloneman315 for hooking us up with a cab at 12:30 am Monday morning when we broke down.

Tomorrow I will get a chance to see what is up with the Subaru.

Good night all who care.
