anything can be done, but why? the 4.3L is junk, so is the 700R4. Id go with a Turbo 3.8 and a 200-4R anyday of the week over the 4.3L/700R4, not only for strength, but parts availablity and cheaper cost.

I'd also consider going LSX before the thought of a 4.3L would even cross my mind, but to each their own.

but downpipe shouldn't be a big deal, considering you will need a complete custom exhaust, whats one more piece.

if it was an original 4.3 monte the motor will literally bolt right in and the cross over pipe wil even clear

yep it can be, it's gonna be close with the stock hood unless ur gonna do a small cowl hood, when i was workin at summit racing one of my co-workers did it, looked weird seein it in there but it was all stock and wasnt all souped up, he wanted to keep it reliable, and it worked out great! go for it, he has full interior,no ac, and stock suspension and rear end.

like Rob Schnieder says in a lot of the adam sandler movies,"YOU CAN DOOO IIITTTT"

LSX and 4l80e set the tune and drive the snot out of it

no good parts for a 4.3 for a respectable price 3.8 stuff is still around but LS is very easy to find and bigger power with more reliablity

Crossover pipe hits crossmember you have to notch the frame. And the stock 4.3 mounts wont work u have to goto the next hole foward. G-Bodys are all the same and i have a ty transplant in my 78 Elcamino. Also cant been done with out removing ac dont have enough room.

i just put my stock drivetrain into and 85 el camino and i had zero issues with the crossover pipe hitting the k-member,not sure what the differance would be?????and the a/c still blows ice cold in the car,not sure whuy you would have to remove it,the only fab work i had to do was modify the stock down pipe

bolt in the 4.3 was standard motor, also the 3.8 is a bolt in as there were turbo 3.8 montes made

Re: syclone 4.3 in 86 monte

Suspension the same to i had a 3.8 turbo buick in it before i put the syty. Im just telling you what i had to do. I used stock syty motor monts 2 out of 3 holes lined up now matter how you tried doing it and the cross over hits. My ac was removed already from when i had the 3.8 in it and who needs ac anyway

Re: syclone 4.3 in 86 monte

Also there wasent a 4.3 made back in 78 it was a 3.3 so maybe pre metric the k-member has different bolt patterns
