Re: Syclone #1281 at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale
So the Sy sold for more than most of us ever thought it would, is this good or bad for us? My opinion....neither.
This truck went across the block at Barrett-Jackson. I have been watching for many years now and one inescapable truth about the vehicles sold at this venue is that people pay way too much money for them.
This year especially has been an example of overspending. The Beverly Hillbillies truck went for $275k. This truck has absolutely no practical use. I can't imagine anyone daily driving it or driving it at all except in a parade.
I would guess that the buyer of #1281 purchased the truck for an investment. It is a low mileage truck still riding on it's original tires and claimed to be all original. If they wanted a Sy to drive or modify they could get on egay or autotrader any day of the week and pick one up much cheaper and some in better condition. Was this a smart investment? Not in my eyes. Was there alcohol involved? Probably. Was the buyer a SyTy expert? Not a chance in hell! :rotf:
As for us bottom feeders that drive our piles around and think they are the coolest things on earth this auction price doesn't mean diddly to me. I'm well aware of what my junk is worth to the real world and what it's worth to me.
